They didn't really choose to change bodies, they were tricked. They still have personalities and things like that.
Well, it's the fluff we've got and we'll have to live with it. I'm mostly fine with the fluff itself and the rules seem sweet so far, but most of the new models and designs are terrible.

Lychguard looks nice. The "Necrons are made out of living metal" thing is getting old. They might be, but why do people wear armor? SO THEY LAST LONGER. As far as I know, they still get murdered by high powered weapons, so the shields make them last longer, especially because they are a melee oriented unit.
Lychguard look bad mostly because of the headdress, but I suppose that can be cut off

You're composing your force of weak, squishy infantry and here's another rule: never ever get devastators, they require too much effort to operate and honestly don't have very good firepower.
2-3 tactical marine squads are a must, seeing as those plasma guns/flamers/missile launchers are going to help you a lot in the game, and here's another thing:
Never buy the plasma gun for the Techmarine unless you know your enemy is chaos or space marine, else it pretty much sucks, if there's no chaos/space marines then you should use Melta Gun, Signum Armor, Orbs of the Omnissiah, perhaps starting with a master-crafted bolter in t1 for easy suppression, also put shotguns on your scout squad and a sergeant, anyway, it's not a rhino, it's a razorback, but the razorback is indeed useful, and you should get one at t2, however, see to it that you can upgrade your tactical marines with sergeants as soon as you can.
The Apothecary is decent at t1, just give him a master-crafted bolter, and also give him purification vials if the enemy is either tyranids or imperial guard, at t2 you should just get armor of the apothecarion on him and the improved medical equipment, be sure to have three tactical marines when you play as apothecary or else this tactic won't really work, keep your tactical marines with sergeants close to the apothecary and be sure to keep your apothecary behind your tactical marines because he's going to be the one healing them constantly with the AoE ability granted from the Armor of the Apothecarion, the power axe isn't really good because the apothecary is a squishy hero, just keep him to master-crafted bolter, armor of the apothecarion and improved medical equipment.
Anyway, the Force Commander is easy, don't get any wargear on him at t1, get 2 tactical marine squads, 2 scout squads, snipers on both scout squads and an assault squad, t2: sergeant on assault squad, power fist, artificer armor and teleport pack on force commander, plasma guns on both tactical squads and then just go to t3 and save up for assault terminators.
T3 for Techmarine: Land Raider Redeemer and Venerable Dreadnought, then if you can, terminators.
T3 for Apothecary: Land Raider Redeemer and Terminators.

When I play with my mates, I run;
Pokkit Rokkit Launcher, Zapp Knife.
Eavy Armour
The thing that gives "Ported", Boom Time and Cybork Parts.
Then I take the Fearsome Aura.
What this means is, Every enemy I hit in melee has a 50% chance to be teleported someplace random, where they then explode due to being Ported, 15% chance I'm teleported, but that likely throws me into more enemies. I then explode.
The only problem is, this makes wave 16 on BC a complete bitch.

How has Dark Crusade and souldtorm changed? Or the Eldar and Necrons?
