Where did you get the idea that video games and books come out as fact in 40k?
Because GW says so.
Because GW says so.
They do contribute to the overall fluff, but the final say is codex fluff. Games, books, and rules (balance in tt, and games) are merely supporting fluff.
You keep repeating yourself GOD I HATE MATT WARD GOD FUCKING NEW NECRONS ARE SHIT I HATE NEW NECRONS SUCH A DISASTER SHAME ON YOU GW. You can only go on so much until you will sound like a broken record, its mad you take lore so seriously.
Again, I was contributing to the discussion. I explained what I thought was stupid/wrong, and you explained why you disagreed. And now its "you stated your opinion and I dismissed it, stop explaining yourself"? You clearly do not know how a discussion works.
Also necron never ever bloody wanted EVERYONE DEAD. They wanted to reastablish the empire so the C'tan could once again feast unopposed. They wanted to seperate the warp from realspace in order to never loose again and a bunch of other stuff. Nothing that directly goes against their new fluff. There already were multiple tomb worlds which were not under the control of the c'tan.
No, the Necrons wanted everyone dead. They were killing in the name of the C'tan. Sure, they wanted to wake up the different Tomb Worlds, but the thing is, they HAD no Empire back in the day. At least, not a very large one. They had extremely short, painful lives as the Necrontyr, and they hated the Old Ones because they had it so easy. This was an interesting backstory, compared to "we decided to start a war with a civilization stronger than ours because we wanted to give our race a common enemy".
They do contribute to the overall fluff, but the final say is codex fluff. Dow2+ is absolute canon and GW staff have already said so both on relicnews and DoWcomm.
Roadwarden
Lemme get this straight, you sent an ADVANCED EXPERT CLASS NPC with a prerequisite WS/BS of 50+ against new characters? The fuck is wrong with you.
They do contribute to the overall fluff, but the final say is codex fluff. Games, books, and rules (balance in tt, and games) are merely supporting fluff.
"All fluff is canon" is the official GW stance. Shit ain't tiered.

Wraithcat and Vasilli, fallen brothers in the Wardian Heresy.
They had a massive empire that spanned the stars.....
I think you've got them confused with the Old Ones.
What do you mean?
He probably means we are obsessed with W40K.
I think you've got them confused with the Old Ones.
Necrontyr were stuck on a single planet, despite being technologically advanced, said planet had seriously bad radiation which gave them relatively short lives, hence why the fuck they started a war with the Old ones, then discovered the C'Tan in their mother Star, eventually becoming the necrontyr. Sure, the Necrons has lots of tomb worlds all over the place, but more of a large military garrisson spread amongst the stars than any real Empire.
Wouldn't have a problem with fluff changes if they were good fluff changes.
Wouldn't have a problem with fluff changes if they were good fluff changes.
Exactly, the new necron models could simply be explained as a new advancement i the overall awakening of the necron forces, either old units that were in storage, or adaptations to the galaxy around them.
Again, I was contributing to the discussion. I explained what I thought was stupid/wrong, and you explained why you disagreed. They hated the Old ones because of their long lifes, so they went to war with them to stop killing themselves. Then they found the C'tan and became the Necrons.
Yeah, they had a really extensive Empire AFTER they became the Necrons, and it was only because the C'tan wanted to spread them throughout the galaxy. The Newcrons had a gigantic Empire even as the Necrontyr and as far as I understand it just randomly decided to fight the Old Ones because their people were feuding and needed a common enemy.
Not really an Empire, they just spread through the galaxy, killing as they went, then building and settling into tomb worlds for the long wait, after tehy had killed everyone. No, they had one shitty planet, and it wasn't to unite their race, it was because Old ones had long lifespans and massive technology, and the necrontyr wanted it, thats it.
Again, I was contributing to the discussion. I explained what I thought was stupid/wrong, and you explained why you disagreed. And now its "you stated your opinion and I dismissed it, stop explaining yourself"?
All you're doing is continuously bitching about them, its not really discussion, what am I supposed to say to "NECRONS ARE DEAD TO ME"? All I have seen you do really in any discussion about the Necrons is refute how you don't like the change in which case thats fine, but we don't need to hear it constantly.
Necrontyr were stuck on a single planet, despite being technologically advanced, said planet had seriously bad radiation which gave them relatively short lives, hence why the fuck they started a war with the Old ones, then discovered the C'Tan in their mother Star, eventually becoming the necrontyr.
The Necrontyr developed sufficient technology to move out to other planets, they owned more than one planet.
That comment was not the beginning of this. You were discussing other posts saying how they didn't like the Newcrons, and I responded to that with my own argument of why the new fluff is inferior to the old one, and how it was excessive and unnecessary for them to change it so drastically. You just seem to be focusing on how much I'm posting, not what I'm posting about.
You are comparing who killed Khaine to the complete and total overhaul of an entire race.
Just say it's the imperial bureaucracy who just took so damn long to finally put together a report on Necrons, with how huge the imperium is (and because change is bad yidda yadda) it's not that far from being possible.
The Necrontyr developed sufficient technology to move out to other planets, they owned more than one planet.
Then they got owned so badly that by the time they met the C'Tan, they were pushed back to a tiny amount of space.
He probably means we are obsessed with W40K.
We aren't, in my opinion. [editline]30th October 2011[/editline] Why are you guys arguing so much about the new Necrons? I don't like the changes either, but they're probably not going to be changed back into mindless killing machines so it's pointless to argue about them, really.

Being an actual Necron player myself though for many years, I actually like the change.
People just like to complain about things they don't like. Being an actual Wardian Heretic myself though for many years, I actually like the change.
Fixed.

It's been fairly well known that they suffered the radiation poisoning even after founding new colonies. Hence their willingness to switch over to necrodermis bodies. Most necron technology, from necrodermis to phase universe (FTL travel) actually predate necron transfers. If you recall, they create necrodermis bodies for the c'tan after discovering them.
Fixed.
All aboard!
I'd rather be aboard that band wagon than the wardwagon. Besdies which, you're defending Matt Ward, auto fail your credibility roll.
Its funny how saying something is a bandwagon is actually a bandwagon in itself. Have an unpopular opinion, "YOU GUYS ARE JUST BANDWAGONING". Matt Ward is a terrible, terrible writer, and there are an ungodly amount of examples that support this.
I'd rather be aboard that band wagon than the wardwagon. Besdies which, you're defending Matt Ward, auto fail your credibility roll.
liking new lore updates for necrons means I must be a huge Matt Ward fan kiwi~~ spiritual liege ^_^
I hated the Necron changes at first but now i like some of them. There are always explanations for stuff, so the old things aren't exactly gone completely. For example, why would the Void Dragon have gone to Earth? - To escape the Necrons. I always thought it was stupid how the C'tan could be fielded considering how powerful they were meant to be but now they are more like the Avatar of Khaine.
He probably means we are obsessed with W40K.
I certainly am. It's awesome. [editline]30th October 2011[/editline]
liking new lore updates for necrons means I must be a huge Matt Ward fan kiwi~~ spiritual liege ^_^
He didn't say that at all, he only disdained your credibility because you defended Ward, not for liking the new Necron fluff.
liking new lore updates for necrons means I must be a huge Matt Ward fan kiwi~~ spiritual liege ^_^
Lore updates good Matt Ward Lore updates, bad.
