What is people's opinion of the move towards plastic models? Especially with Citadel Finecast out.
I am neutral, I think it allows for more interchangeability between sets and easier construction but loses out in terms of details and durability.
Personally I don't think plastic suffers from any sort of lack of detail whatsoever, and they are pretty durable. also, there is no appreciable difference between metal and finecast models except for slight sharperness in Finecast, but thats only due to the way metal works..
All in all, out of Metal, Finecast and Plastic, I still prefer plastic, though I understand why they can't do every model in plastic (moulds for plastic models are fucking expensive)
(moulds for plastic models are fucking expensive)
After doing a course on resistant materials I can say that to get fine detail on plastic mouding it is REALLY REALLY REALLY Fucking expensive.
You have to create a metal mould for EVERY INDIVIDUAL model that you want.
So you know that big jointed sheet of bits that comes in your model? Well for every slight variant on that model they had to carve out, of solid metal I might add, that entire "tray" even the plastic frame bits, for every model that is slightly different.
So if you wanted a chaos guy with a helmet and one without, bear in mind even if their body is exactly the same, they had to make an entirely new mould for it.
Is Chaos Rising standalone?
Is Chaos Rising standalone?
It's an expansion pack, plus i think you need DOW2 to run Chaos Rising.
It's not no.

Which is why only things that sell well, aka not individual characters etc etc, come in plastic, high startup cost but cheap material cost, where metal was the other way round, and now with the resin, cheap material cost and cheap mold costs.
Then they jack up the prices again like greedy pigs.
They do that anually, it just coincided that this years price hike happened at the same time as finecast came out.

Lego Warhammer 40K.
I will make a FORTUNE.
Until GW sends it lawyers after you.
Bought a pack of chaos terminators today.
Everything went well until glue gushed all over my fingers. :smith:
Rhinos! Look at them in their metal boxes! We should take away their metal boxes!
Haha puny metal box-
OH SHIT RUN

Also thanks a lot RayvenQ, I can't take O Fortuna seriously any more either
The funny thing is, if you don't market lego space marines as carrying GW branding, then they can't do anything. Much like that molding putty you can buy on CMON.
Went in to my local hobby shop looking to start Guard. In the end left with a box of Nobz. GOD DAMN YOU ORKS AND YOUR NICE MODELS!

Sadly the engine sounds puny and pathetic on that Rhino.

I'd get it even if it was GW-backed (therefore even more expensive than normal lego) and came with simpler 40k rules.
Hell, I'd buy it then, just because.
Sadly, Lego doesn't allow for "realistic" war themes. Probably too lazy to make blood splatter blocks.
Then make it based on Brighthammer 1e.

They had horrible recording, the pitch was way up in that video. The actual thing had a much deeper sounding engine, though it still wasn't as powerful as you would expect a rhino to sound.
Keep in mind that rhino wasn't built from scratch (modified actual tank of some kind)
I wonder when we'll hear more about Space Marine / DMO. I really want to preorder Space Marine but I have this fear it will be short.
It was a modified brtish FV432 btw.

We've heard quite alot about Space Marine, i'm just waiting for some info of Coop and Multiplayer which should be coming out soon.
Fluff question:
Is there such a thing as an Apothecary or Tech-marine dreadnought? And how is an Apothecary chosen?
Table-top questions:
What is a good army to counter Tau players? For 1500 points. My current plan is to have Assault Marines and Vanguard squads with a Dreadnought or two in place, a Sternguard squad with Devastators to protect the Command Squad.

Any venerable warrior of a chapter is put into a dreadnought if they are incapacitated in battle, whether it is a techmarine or an apothecary.
Apothecaries are chosen?
I thought they were just marines tought by a Chief Apothecary.
Apothecaries are probably chosen in a similar way to techmarines, those that show an aptitude for the role.
One of the pieces of kit an Apothecary has, is the Carnifex (latin for executioner) which is used to kill marines whose injuries are too far gone to be saved.
Does anybody have a general multiplayer strategy for tyranids? I always suck as them.

Is there a name over the kit they use to recover gene-seeds?

Narthecium, I think
[editline]26th June 2011[/editline]
Actually, Reductor
Reductor is the actual tool, Narthecium is the full arm mounted kit, including reductor, carnifex, sterile containers and medical things.
