It was awhile ago apparently. It was like one of the first Codex's he had to write or change or something like that. All I know is it's stupid. But that aside, I want to take some SPESS MAHREENS and convert them to the Greater Good. What would the best 'basic' Space Marine be? I just want to give him a different paint scheme and add Tau decals and see what I get. It's an interesting concept. Space Marines defecting to the Tau.
Haven't they ALWAYS been obsidian black?
Haven't they ALWAYS been obsidian black?
Yes but Ward changed the reason for them being black. Not to mention he gives them red eyes which is a bit silly.
So, anyway I guess Matt Ward changed it so they have obsidian black skin and red eyes to make them look 'demonic' even though they're one of the most humane Space Marine Chapters ever. And that the pigmentation of their skin is a genetic flaw rather than a positive trait to help them survive the radiation and heat on their planet.
The pigmentation being a genetic flaw makes perfect sense - all space marines can reduce/increase the amount of pigment in their skin whenever needed. No idea about those red eyes though.
Yes but if they were adapted to their planet BEFORE and then matt ward said "LOLNO BEING BLACK IS A GENETICAL FLAW" And that's just hilarious [editline]4th November 2011[/editline]
Hello fellow facepunchers, I bring you a new creation: Excuse me for the heresy. [editline]3rd November 2011[/editline] It's a bit deformed at the bottom, my scaner refuses to work.
cool but bottom dude is absolutely ,horribly off balance and erryone seem to be disproportionate. also perspective issues here and there [editline]4th November 2011[/editline]
Just spend about an hour trying to convince my friend 40k isn't just about muscular men beating the snot out of each other, but that it actually has depth and emotions and stuff like his shitty animes, only with more badass grittyness and chainsaw swords.
When i first discovered wh40k and had to explain to my friend ho wh40k just isn't bulky men sillily beating eachother with retarded weapons for stupid reasons, I shut up and realized that that's what wh40k was all about. And that's why I love it.

Would you want white salamanders instead?
No, I don't care about salamanders. I allready have my rastafarian artic chaos army.
ohgod "land Raider Launcher" ahahah
Strength 20 artillery with added land raider scout rule.
I saw a pretty fucked up dream, most of it was non-40k related exploring in a devastated landscape with my ex (who I am not in speaking terms with). We encountered Imperial assassins in a skyscraper leaning on another skyscraper, but somehow they all just froze like they were robots being shut down when they were about to kill us, the Eversor's blades were maybe a couple centimeters away from my face. Close to the end of the dream I realized that this is all just roleplay, we're playing some 40k system like DH. However, I was just told to "check Facebook" when I inquired about who was the GM. I got a laptop out of nowhere and logged on, only to find a status update from C. Goto on my front page saying "gonna GM for two friends tonight :)" with no comments or likes. Out of horror I checked his profile page expecting the worst, and getting it. Cassern Sebastian Goto. He had maybe five friends, and his second newest status update was "the readers didn't really like my newest book, but that's okay :)" I felt really sorry for the guy.
C. Goto
By the Emperor, what a nightmare.
Just had an amazing end to an Exterminatus game. It was just me and another tactical marine left, we were both completely out of ammo. So we made one last glorious death charge. Somehow we killed 6 chaos marines before dying, all we had was our combat knives. Glory to the Emperor.
And yet they don't realize that having over 75 % of the black library out of print is stupid. They're not even fucking digital. They added a couple of IG books to the E-book list a month or so after the IG omnibus went out of print. Cheap asses.
I think they saw that there's loads of ebooks on less reputable sites and figured selling them would be counter productive.
Reading the new necron fluff, it seems pretty decent. Seems like Destroyer lords are more of a call out to the old necron destroy all life twipe. Warriors still essentially mindless (formerly nonsoldiers who weren't trasfered as well) Keeps mentioning how most necrons actually don't feel emotion but can clinically understand it. EDIT Overall from the reactions here and there I've got a feeling people are saying MW might have just started to redeem himself. In part due to the ork comedy found in it.

Yeah that was a fun one. Also Trazyn is pure boss. The letter he sent o the Inquisitor. Sheer unadulered goading. Kinda sad there's no direct mention of Pariah's though. They are still in some of the artworks though. So one can assume some minor dynasty could potentially be focusing on them. Something like the flowing orbs of zandros which are only used by one small craftworld and hence don't show up in the codex.

Aye~ Does anyone go to forums.relicnews.com and know what happened?
Aye~ Does anyone go to forums.relicnews.com and know what happened?
According to the folks on hwcommunity, squid is to blame, or bowkers. Of course squid is blamed for everything. Most likely broken by dyntheos or the host. Eitherway it's temporary. Anyways, I just finished painting a single noise marine. Pics
Hnng reverse grip chainsword.
Hnng reverse grip chainsword.
Wanna see a nob wielding a daemon prince's sword?
Like the chainsword, but you should have probably flipped the thingy that's flailing from the handle so it pointed downwards. Mould lines on the gun are quite visible. The drybrushing looks really bad in the first picture but in the others it creates a nice chaos-y effect [editline]4th November 2011[/editline] I assume that would be pretty quick to paint? Prime black, blue on top, drybrush different blues and purples. The armor trims and such could use a little more attention to detail though.
I assume that would be pretty quick to paint? Prime black, blue on top, drybrush different blues and purples. Ice blue overcoat on the main parts. Trims were left with their ultramarine blue undercoat. Metal parts has boltgun metal undercoat, and then mithril silver over it, while the chainsword had a third coat, being necron abyss. Edit: Oh, and full inking of the model. Everything but the base coat is dry brushed. I'll keep the mold line bit in mind for the next model i paint.
but you know, if it would not be a genetic flaw then you would have white salamanders on every single low-UV radiated planet. Would you want white salamanders instead?
or they could be genetically black like people, ya know?
Just curious, what colour trim would you guys suggest. Anything that isn't red, yellow or metal please.
I am reading Age of Darkness and am highly confused as Salamanders are fighting Ultramarines in the Heresy. Can someone explain what is up with that? [editline]4th November 2011[/editline] Oh goddamn, what a twist [editline]4th November 2011[/editline] [sp]simulations[/sp]
I am reading Age of Darkness and am highly confused as Salamanders are fighting Ultramarines in the Heresy. Can someone explain what is up with that?
It was an order of the Ordo Apartheidictus.
or they could be genetically black like people, ya know?
Yeah like people - have fun figuring out why the entire population of a planet is black. When you think just how many ethnicities we have. The amount of these is only likely to increase. I've heard that some voidborn can have even highly unusual skin colours from purplish to blue toned. Or perhaps the salamanders are racist? A genetic deviation is a much better answer and has been used before with the ravenguard. I mean going by the description of nocturne, one would actually expect very light skinned individuals as opposed to dark skinned.
Wanna see a nob wielding a daemon prince's sword?
I want to see anything and everything chaos related, always.
