I was wrong about the W40K wiki. After talking to the admin it seems the whole point of the fan-content is to differentiate it from the Lexicanum, while i had assumed it was just because he didn't understand my views on the subject. I feel terrible because of the things i said, i was completely wrong about him and the wiki.
So I just played my first game ever. It was a 400 point combat patrol game, and I was playing guard against Grey Knights. My god, even though I lost that was really fun. The $100+ I have spent on this hobby is completely worth it. First turn I managed to take out 2 of his knights with a plasma cannon sentinel. I think the star of the game was my chimera though, which got 3 kills. (I didn't take out any of his squads fully, so he raped me in an assault at the end of the game)
What was your enemy's army setup like, if i may ask?
how have i not seen this before :v: Fuck media tags. y u no work.
I want to get the original Death Guard Colour Scheme, White, Green Pauldrons, one Red Shoulderpad and Gold trimming. Then apply GS Rot and a Wash to 'tarnish' it.
A bit late, but this might help; http://www.belloflostsouls.net/2007/06/tutorial-death-guard-in-7-easy-steps.html It even provides a sheet of decals for you to print out on decal paper you buy from who knows where. [editline]11th November 2011[/editline]
You know, in this non-canon Dornian Heresy thing someone posted a few days ago, the Ultramarines are actually a well developed and interesting chapter. Here's a link if anyones interested: http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/heresy/thedornianheresy.pdf I kinda like it more than the canon stuff, to be honest
I decided like a month ago, if and when I get some marines, I'm doing those Dornian Word Bearers, with cloth bits taken from Dark angels and green stuff votive clothes, and if I can practice some more free handing, the engraving on the armour, I've got a good idea of how to do it.
That's fairly close to me really. I'll come join you on your quest to hunt down Matt Ward.
Let me drive up from sheffield and I will join in your quest
Let me drive up from sheffield and I will join in your quest
So it begins.. The great Matt Wardian crusade.
Let me drive up from sheffield and I will join in your quest
Get all into one car and crash through the front doors of the GW HQ while one of you leans out of the window shouting DRIVE ME CLOSER, I WANT TO HIT HIM WITH MY FIST.
What was your enemy's army setup like, if i may ask?
Since it was a 400 point game, he had 3 squads of knights. 5 each. So 15 knights in all. Each of them had incinerators and the equivalent to sergeants with power weapons. 2 squads had that psybolt ammo or whatever. And they all had storm bolters.

That's practically a setup made for crowd control/dealing with horde armies.

Assault Terminators, are they good to have (hammers&shields)? (No land raider to shuffle them around though, but I could bring them with my librarian and teleport them where I want to have them)
Well, I'm using these Tamiya colours. Some are quite thick, others are so goddamn thin that painting my models may as well be washing them. Green Stuff'd the Daemon prince though, nothing major, various headtubes that would go nowhere now sink into lovely pouches of diseased flesh. I need to assemble 19 more Plague Marines for Saturday and my first game at Games Workshop.
Hmm, how would I best split up my marines into three squads then? I'm using the vanilla marine codex, it seemed like the best codex to get. =) I've also fiddled a bit with a custom chapter colour, here it is What do you guys think?
Probably late but BEAVER MARINES.
BEAVER BROTHERS TODAY THE ENEMY IS AT OUR DAM! WE NAO OUR DUTY AND VE VILL DO EET!
Assault Terminators, are they good to have (hammers&shields)?
Hammernators are excellent, but don't synergise with librarian so well because of the lack of assault on any turn you deep strike.
Aw, that's too bad! I was hoping I could do that tactic, warping in terminators in the midsts of the army of my enemies, smash away and deal some serious damage. I currently do not have the rule book, so I've got a question about saves; The assault terminators, do they get two saves (first their terminator armour, and then the storm shield)? If so, would it then be possible to do a tactic where I warp with librarian+termies, throw up the shield the librarian has and just hope that the three saves I would get (armour + shield + librarian shield) could save them for the next round? Would it be possible to warp into an enemy squad and smash? [editline]11th November 2011[/editline] Aw shit I just read that terminator armour is +2 save AND a +5 inv save

So that means you'll normally be rolling +2's to live, but if the weapon is AP1 or AP2, you use your +5 Invul save. I' don't know the rules for Storm Shields though, they'll be in the Marine codex.
Storm Shield gives a +3 invul save, which is pretty neat. I guess I should get the rulebook too, read about the rules could be a good idea if I want to play the game I guess :v:

As well as a condensed rulebook and some Orks.
I thought about that first, but I decided to get regular kits instead because I want to convert them as much as possible, and the static models from AoBR won't let me do that without cutting them (and probably myself) up.
Argh. I'm applying Paint to my Chaos Marines, I tested my scheme on a Spare Daemon Prince and it looks really good. It's pale green with the barest touch of yellow, it looks like something that once grew in the Fridge by mistake. I try to apply it to a Chaos Marine and it looks absolutely awful.
Captains are pretty cool when you're at a point level where you can bring in more wargear.
I'd only take one if I had a nice terminator unit or assault squad and in Wolves codex or Blood Angels. Librarians are just as good minus I think a weapon skill but get a shit ton of godly powers to fuck over the enemy with.

If you want to up their survivability, terminator armour and a storm shield will be useful.
This looks alot more promising than Ultramarines.
Well that really doesn't say much
-snip- This looks alot more promising than Ultramarines.
Good animations, bad writing. Some of the lines there made me cringe.

Maybe you should work on the focus of the webcam instead? :v:
