Well Power Klaws are also power weapons, which allow no armour save of any kind (although invul saves are allowed if aplicable.
Well Power Klaws are also power weapons, which allow no armour save of any kind (although invul saves are allowed if aplicable.
Well it was the fact that my Chaplain still had 2 wounds and yet he killed him with one wound.
Also, that invunerable save is what the bikes get - a 5+ COVER save beause there's some smoke pouring out of them. You can't take cover saves in combat, and koptaz don't even get them in the first place. [editline]13th November 2011[/editline] You'd also be hitting him on a 3+. If you didn't, you also should've taken at least a 4+ inv.
Well it was the fact that my Chaplain still had 2 wounds and yet he killed him with one wound.
It happened because, as oblivious said, its a power fist, power fists double their users strength, making a warboss S10 (I think) and a chaplain is S4 or so.
You'd also be hitting him on a 3+.
Uh, no. Both combatants are WS5. Both hit on fours. Everything else has been said, though. But bikes don't get an invulnerable save, no even the ork ones.
Uh, no. Both combatants are WS5. Both hit on fours. Everything else has been said, though. But bikes don't get an invulnerable save, no even the ork ones.
The ork deffkoptaz are WS4
The ork deffkoptaz are WS4
Yes, but we were talking about to hit rolls with the Warboss, right? Deathkopters were just lying invulnerable save shenanigans. Well, sorry if I misinterpreted what you said, anyway. But gamerman, that sucks. Did you ask to see where it said that in the codex?

For some reason I thought the chaplain was in combat with the koptaz.
Thank you GW store, for enlightening me about the rules of Warhammer 40,000. I was previously unaware that a power klaw inflicts instant death on the first wound, regardless of the number of wounds the opponent has. I was also unaware that Chaplains have to roll 5+ to hit a Warboss, and can't re-roll hits. Oh, and how could I forget 5+ invulnerable saves on Death Kopptas thanks to the smoke coming out of them. I realize now that you are in no way trying to squeeze money from these free games, where tactics, clever thinking and innovative decisions are totally allowed.
Couldn't you ask to check the store codex? [editline]13th November 2011[/editline]
They are fragile because everyone seems to have a way of making them snap like a twig. Whether it be a mass amount of saves from flamers or 200 points of guardsmen, to meltagun, dark lances and what not. They are tough, but everyone likes to shoot them for some reason even when they are not as equally as powerful as a 200 point Vanguard squad. [editline]13th November 2011[/editline] They are awesome, but they lack proper hitting power that chaos terminators, grey knight terminators and assault terminators possess for their amount of points.
They're good diversions, almost as good as avatars or wraithlords.
Oops, sorry, I totally misread, you were right. For some reason I thought the chaplain was in combat with the koptaz.
That's because the image of a flying chaplain whacking koptas with a crozius is ridiculous awesome.
That's because the image of a flying chaplain whacking koptas with a crozius is ridiculous awesome.
Well, Chaplains can take jumppacks so....
Well, Chaplains can take jumppacks so....
Mid-air duel? Awesome!
I haven't bought my miniatures yet and I'm already planning my next buy. Thinking about getting assault marines (and using spares from grey knights pack I'm buying to make a chaplain), I guess you only get 5 jump packs from that kit?
Assault Marines aren't very good unless playing BA 'dex
So FP, what sort of Space Marine army (around 600 pts) would be ideal for a tournament?
Assault Marines aren't very good unless playing BA 'dex
How bad are they?
How bad are they?
I think that if you had a Chaplain and 10 assault marines, you could use them as a way of harassing enemy artillery/heavy support or troops, and with 3 attacks on the charge plus re-rolls to hit they wouldn't actually be that bad.
How bad are they?
They're not THAT bad, statswise, but they just tend to be sacrificial units that cost too much to be worth it. I'd rather fill my fast attack slots with land speeders or bikes.
Assault Marines need more love :c
Maybe 6th ed
I think that if you had a Chaplain and 10 assault marines, you could use them as a way of harassing enemy artillery/heavy support or troops, and with 3 attacks on the charge plus re-rolls to hit they wouldn't actually be that bad.
Aye, I was thinking about kitting out a chaplain from the Grey Knights-kit I'm getting, and later getting two kits of assault marines.
I'm going to hop into Games Workshop tomorrow and pick up a few paints, Knarlock Green, Bleached Bone and a dull metal bronze. And that wash, Brazan brown or somesuch. Any Facepunch Warhammerers in Middlesbrough?
Devlan Mud?
Yep, the brown one.
I accidentally found a little short fanfic I wrote two years ago, It's horribly written (please don't correct my spelling, I know it's awful.) but I wanted to share it anyways.
Machines. Their bodies are made of cold metal. Their hand holding tight grip on alien weapons. Their eyes are glowing green. There is nothing that can escape them. They are death. They are the bringers of doom. Stripped of all life by their masters, Necrons posses only hate for all living. Ancient machines, immortal beings that once where the most powerful race in the Universe. We are many. We are elite regiment of the Imperium, purging the heretics by the will of the Emperor himself. Commander gives the order to fire. A battalion of mighty Leman Russ tanks fires their battle cannons, obliterating all alien machines in their sight. Silence. The machines are down, broken, vaporized, annihilated. Suddenly, among the broken machines dark skeletal figure made of metal. It's body is covered in the arcane writings of the long gone race. It's right hand wields an ancient warscythe capable of cutting through anything, it's left hand holding it's grip on arcane artifact. It's glowing green. Lighting charges passes through it's body, the metal reforms, recently obliterated machine rises once again. Commander looks confused, he orders the Guardsman platoon to charge and fire at will. Men of the Emperor run forth, discharging a barrage of lasergun shots at the Necron Lord. The shots doesn't even leave a mark on his metal body. One of the squads comes close enough to the enemy to assault him, the fools. Seemingly slow Lord suddenly makes a lightning fast move. Faster than eye can see, he cuts Guardsman closest to him in half with his warscythe, from waist to the shoulder, in one move. He turn his head in our direction, there is nothing in his eyes but death and destruction. Guardsmen, the Men of the Imperium, stand still, paralyzed by the horrors of death. Necron Lord raises his left hand. Blinding flash and a lightning discharge. Lightning bolts jump from the artifact to the fallen Necron Warriors. Deformed, destroyed, obliterated bodies start to rebuild themselves, slowly, one by one, Necron Warriors resurrect back to the unlife. Their weapons with long green glowing tubes, constructed by unknown technology, aiming at the Guardsmen squadron. Discharge. Emperor save us all. Screams echoes through the battlefield as our whole army being disintegrated, layer by layer, into dust by alien weaponry. Commissar Rhydek that stands next to me tries to stop our squadron from fleeing, executing Guardsmen one by one until a green lightning bolt delivers his death to him. The shot from a Gauss Gun first flays his skin, disintegrating it atom by atom, then flesh, Commisar Rhydek still screams in pain, then it turns the skeleton and everything else that is left into the dust. Infantry tried to flee only to be sent to their deaths by the enemy. Battalion of the Leman Russes, fires their Battle Cannons at the enemy. Explosion. From nowhere Necron Lord appears behind a Leman Russ and slices it with his warscythe, making the ammunition in it explode. Fallen Necrons rise again, one by one, they can't die, they do not live, they are the death itself.Blinding green flash, i feel the horrible pain, my whole body in agony, then it's all black. Emperor save us all.
P.S. Yes, I have a hard-on for Necrons.

So I think he'll be able to get the following army: HQ Company Command Squad 50 pts TROOPS Infantry Squad I 50 pts Infantry Squad II 50 pts Veteran Squad 155 pts Meltagunx3 Chimera Heavy Weapons Squad 75 pts Autocannon Heavy Bolter Lascannon FAST ATTACK Armoured Sentinel 55 pts HEAVY SUPPORT Leman Russ Battle Tank 150 pts Total points: 585 pts What is the best way to outkit that army he'd get (1 command squad, 3 infantry squads, 1 heavy weapons team, 1 leman russ + 1 chimera)?
