I hope 40k lore will advance in the next Codex.
I hope 40k lore will advance in the next Codex.
That's like asking the Beatles to throw a live concert on Christmas. [sp]I would go[/sp]
That's like asking the Beatles to throw a live concert on Christmas. [sp]I would go[/sp]
Well there had been rumors about the lore advancing in the necron codex, but obviously there was none of that, so i was disappointed.
I hope 40k lore will advance in the next Codex.
It will by one year.
Plus 40k is just getting dull for me, with nothing new happening, it's just debating about the same thing over and over again. [editline]19th November 2011[/editline] automerge
Start playing the tabletop game then?

Does anyone know who was the 2nd and the 11th Primarch?
Does anyone know who was the 2nd and the 11th Primarch?
They are the two unknown Primarchs, no one knows anything about them other than a few very small hints from the Horus Heresy series and that they were wiped from Imperial Records, including their statues in the Imperial Palace being destroyed.
They're not named. Big E certainly found them as their statues are in the Imperial Palace (Dorn saw them). Other primarchs seem to know what happened to them, but don't talk about it. It's somewhat implied at least one of their legions merged with the Ultramarines prior to the Heresy.
I always thought the deal with the missing primarchs was so players could make up their own chapters (loyalist or chaos).
I always thought the deal with the missing primarchs was so players could make up their own chapters (loyalist or chaos).
Yeah I've always thought about it that way too, nothing is really known and people can just insert their own chapter into the lore.
I always thought the deal with the missing primarchs was so players could make up their own chapters (loyalist or chaos).
That's the meta reason, yes.

In one of the Horus Heresy books this happens:
"...Horus has three of his brother legions with him, you have your fists and thirteen others." "Would that it were fifteen," mused Dorn. "Do not even think it, my friend," warned Malcador. "They are lost to us forever." "I know," said Dorn.
In another book Horus has a vision and he walks past the tanks where the Primarchs were.
"He stopped by the tank with XI stenciled upon it ... feeling the untapped glories that might have lain ahead for what grew within, but knowing that they would never come to pass."
Hey guys, made a new chaos list (1500) against my friend`s tyranid army. What`s your opinion on it? HQ: Daemon Prince (110) with Wings (20), Mark of Khorne (10): 140 Chaos Lord (90) with Wings (20), Daemon Weapon (40), Mark of Khorne (10): 160 300 Troops: Chaos Space Marines of 10 (150) with an Aspiring Champion (15) who has a Power Weapon (15), two marines with Missile Launchers (20 total) and in a Rhino (35) with Extra Armor (20): 235 Chaos Space Marines of 10 (150) with an Aspiring Champion (15) who has a Power Weapon (15), two marines with Flamers (10 total): 190 Plague Marines of 8 (184) with a Plague Champion (15) who has a Power Fist (25), one marine with a Meltagun (10) and one with a Flamer (5): 239 Noise Marines of 7 (140) with a Noise Champion (15) who has a Power Weapon (15), one marine with a Blastmaster (40): 210 1174 Heavy Support: Chaos Havocs of 5 (75), 4 marines with Heavy Bolters (80 total): 155 Obliterator Cult of 2: 150 1499
Space Wolves annihilated one legion, the other seemingly got absorbed into the Ultramarines for an unknown reason.
That seems to be the case, although it must have been worse then what happened during the Horus Heresy as the statues are destroyed, all records are removed and they are never spoken of again.

Then we'll talk.
Clearly though, the missing legion is the angry marines.
That seems to be the case, although it must have been worse then what happened during the Horus Heresy as the statues are destroyed, all records are removed and they are never spoken of again.
Or possibly something similar that just got quashed before it could get off the ground, wheras the horus heresy took off before it could really be stopped. PRetty sure that if the Emperor had won and survived, all records would have been purged, or at least the chaosy bits.
aghhaghdawhrfewajsbsf *deep breath* Remove the itemised points costs, and just give an overall cost for each unit. Then we'll talk.
Sure GW doesn't like it, but what does it matter?
Sure GW doesn't like it, but what does it matter?
Because unlike most of the things GW doesn't like, it's not unreasonable. It's good practice anyway, especially if you'll be posting these things in other forums with stricter rules.
Or possibly something similar that just got quashed before it could get off the ground, wheras the horus heresy took off before it could really be stopped. PRetty sure that if the Emperor had won and survived, all records would have been purged, or at least the chaosy bits.
It doesn't seem as if they both turned to Chaos. It seems as if it was Worse than that. The lost Primarchs/Legions are referred to as 'the forgotten and the purged'. http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Two_unknown_legions#.TsgFqlb2aX7
aghhaghdawhrfewajsbsf *deep breath* Remove the itemised points costs, and just give an overall cost for each unit. Then we'll talk.
What do you mean? The overall cost for each unit is right there.
What do you mean? The overall cost for each unit is right there.
Yes, but GW don't like it when you give the points costs for individual options, which is why I said to get rid of them. HQ: Daemon Prince with Wings, Mark of Khorne: 140 Chaos Lord with Wings, Daemon Weapon , Mark of Khorne: 160 300 It looks to me like these two characters are going to rush ahead of the rest of your army, get mobbed by nids and die. In particular, why the wings on the lord? There's no unit he can really join, and at T4 3+ he's going to die quickly to shooting, even Tyranid shooting. Troops: Chaos Space Marines of 10 with an Aspiring Champion who has a Power Weapon , two marines with Missile Launchers and in a Rhino with Extra Armor: 235 Not sure if CSM squads can take two heavy weapons as opposed to 1 heavy 1 special, but you're the one with the codex. Why does the squad with the long ranged weapons have the Rhino and the squad with the short ranges weapons have to slog? Chaos Space Marines of 10 with an Aspiring Champion who has a Power Weapon, two marines with Flamers: 190 Plague Marines of 8 with a Plague Champion who has a Power Fist, one marine with a Meltagun and one with a Flamer : 239 Fair enough. Noise Marines of 7 with a Noise Champion who has a Power Weapon, one marine with a Blastmaster: 210 1174 Again, fair enough. Heavy Support: Chaos Havocs of 5, 4 marines with Heavy Bolters: 155 Obliterator Cult of 2: 150 These look fine. 1499 What pool of units do you have to draw from? I'm not sure what you can change?
Well, I took two of those HQs for the sake of melee protection if I won`t be able to shoot the nids up before they get close enough for melee. I was thinking about attaching a rhino to the flamer squad instead, but I kind of thought that heavy weapons need mobility or they`ll get chewed on by tyranids? And yeah, you`re actually right, I can`t have 2 heavy weapons in a single CSM squad. Didn`t notice that. Should I make both my CSM squads have 1 RL and 1 flamer instead?

A flamer in a Rhino can move 12" and shoot out the top, but if an ML is moving then it isn't shooting that turn, and missile launchers should be sitting and shooting for most of the game. If you use the HQs as a counter-charge unit they could be fairly effective, but if the lord comes up against anything big and monstrous, he's probably going to be instant killed. How much does your opponent have in the way of shooting, and do you have any other vehicles?

And I don`t really care about the Chaos Lord, you can clearly see that because I gave him a daemon weapon. Of Khorne, too. My opponent has like 20 genestealers and a doom of malantai. That`s all I remember at least. During our last game (different list) Malantai screwed me over badly.
What about a melee unit/meat shield to distract Tyranids/Ork Boys/Guardsmen for a few turns? that way you can fire every turn without being interrupted. I would also take a Predator to smash enemy defences and support your Marines.
