chainswords
a)It is stated that a chainsword has two sets of blades which can be triggered by controls on the handle. One is meant to pierce through armour and the other through soft flesh. And when wielded by a Space Marine, anything is possible b) The more official fluff standard-issue blade would be the one on the right, the other one is a Space Wolve's-exclusive blade called the Frost Blade c)Rather have the Frost Blade. [editline]20th November 2011[/editline] And I like all the authors you listed, considering I am reading the Horus Heresy series and they contribute a significant amount to it
Looking through the wiki now, getting real interested.
I think its time that the OP gets some information on the various races in the tabletop game. Adeptus Astartes - Also known as SPEESH MARINES Of all the things from the warhammer 40k universe, Space Marines are probably the most famous. The iconic (huge) pauldrons are probably one of the things most people know about from warhammer 40k. They are also the elite of the elite, with each single space marine capable of fighting even a small army! Space Marines are probably the most common army in the tabletop gaming, and is fielded by both beginners and veterans of tabletop gaming. Because of how famous they are, many subchapters of the Space Marines have been made by Games Workshop to cater to certain playstyles. Let's have a look at what you can expect from Space Marines! 'Vanilla' Space Marines' Vanilla Space Marines, the hardened veterans of hundreds of battles can field basic troops that outmatch even the hardiest of veterans of other armies, and venerable elites in the form of terminators, tough soldiers enclad in armour that are capable of shrugging off the strongest of weaponry as if it is a mere breeze in the wind, and the renowned 'dreadnought', a space marine put into a walking mausoleum so that they may fight on even beyond death. Vanilla Marines are pretty much everything the space marines are about, and are really good at almost everything, with plenty of special characters to help shape your army so that it suits whatever playstyle you have. Dark Angels Space Marines Dark Angels, this chapter can focus on either terminators, being able to field them as regular troops instead of elites, and attack bikes, fast vehicles that gives your army a distinct advantage in mobility. This chapter used to be the only chapter who could take terminators as troop chocie, but with recent changes there are other chapters who can do it, but they still excel at it, and if you like the idea of huge bulky marines riding even bigger bikes, then this army is for you! Black Templars Space Marines Black Templars are more zealous, more pious and more determined to cleanse the galaxy of the xeno threat than any of the other chapters. In fact, of all the space marine chapters, this is the most metal one (and trust me, space marines are pretty damn metal already!). They favour close combat over ranged combat, and they have a few rules that lets them charge closer to the enemy for each and every space marine they lose to ranged combat. Space Wolves Space Marines Vikings in space, that's pretty much all I can say about them. They can field one of the best basic troops in the game (even better than the average Space Marine!), and are one of the chapters that can field terminators as troops if they go with a special HQ choice. Blood Angels Space Marines Much like the Black Templars, this chapter heavily favours close combat and can pick Assault Marines (space marines with jump-pack) as a troops choice. They also like going fast, and their army lists usually favours speed in each possible way. Other than that, they are pretty much just like Vanilla Marines. I think that covers it for space marines, I might have gotten something wrong, please correct me if I have. =)
What, no Grey Knights? Sure, they are Ordo Malleus, but let's face it - they are just super powered Speh Hreens army.
I really don't know anything about them so I left them out, people with more knowledge can (and should) help out with the other races or complement/correct the current writeups. =)
guys, when a vehicle is immo and has no more weapons, is it instantly a wreck or does it need another destroyed weapon or immo to be a wreck?
FP, My Dreadnought has immobilised and destroyed both bloodfists on a Chaos dreadnought. Is it wrecked? Ninjad
Grey knight's look cool, so do all the other Space Marines. Edit: I'm just getting into this, don't mock me!
Okay, Oblivious1 had to bail, but not before wounding his own sorcerer and managing to kill 1 obliterator and wound another as compensation for a buggered up Dreadnought and 8 dead Marines. I've a good feeling about this.
So anyways, my local hobby store is having a 20% off sale next weekend. I'm planning on getting my veteran squad + chimera, but I have a question. Where do you get the heavy weapons? Like I was talking to the guy at that worked there and he said you cant just order meltas or anything. I know you can take a normal guard squad and just call em vets, but would a karsakin squad be better? Thanks in advance.

Hm. What colors should I paint my Baneblade? I've put down a black base on it but I still haven't painted it.

It's just sat bascoated and covered in dust. I bought an airbrush and compressor for it, but never got around to trying the thing out.
Not sure if you all have seen this but it is amusing.

Will have to add more about W40K in general and remove some of the stuff about the games. I will put something in about races, but i don't want to put more than a Paragraph about each (Especially not Marines)
I got my plastic Meltas and Plasmas from a command squad pack and Karsakin's would make better Stormtrooper count as.
Considering Kasrkins (I really wish people would spell this correctly) are Cadian Stormtroopers.. Oh and since Kasrkins are still metal models, weapon swapping them is practically impossible. While pricey, there are these http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat440248a&prodId=prod1070094
Considering Kasrkins (I really wish people would spell this correctly) are Cadian Stormtroopers..
I, uh, don't know how to break this to you, but they're Kasrkin. Singular and plural, no s. So called because they are "kin" to the Kasrs. So I do know how to break it to you, I just wanted to avoid seeming pedantic.
guys, when a vehicle is immo and has no more weapons, is it instantly a wreck or does it need another destroyed weapon or immo to be a wreck?
If a vehicle has all it weapons destroyed and is immobilized, it is NOT wrecked. If it recieves a further immobilized or weapon destroyed result it is then wrecked. It happened to one of my many tanks the last game I played IG versus GK. Damn it was a close fought battle and the most fun battle I have had for years, he managed to grab two objectives and I one in the end of turn 6, so he managed a win, although killed a bit more of his army.
Okay, Oblivious1 had to bail, but not before wounding his own sorcerer and managing to kill 1 obliterator and wound another as compensation for a buggered up Dreadnought and 8 dead Marines. And yes, I know they are called Kasrkin because the are Kin to the Kasr on Cadia, Although by kin in this regard, they're household guards of the Kasrs
And yes, I know they are called Kasrkin because the are Kin to the Kasr on Cadia, Although by kin in this regard, they're household guards of the Kasrs
My brain is full of Warp.
My brain is full of Warp.
Roll 3D6, double 1's or 6's wound.
I think its time that the OP gets some information on the various races in the tabletop game. Adeptus Astartes - Also known as SPEESH MARINES
You forgot the Blood Ravens, they can look at another players army, take all the relics and use these for themselfs in that battle.
You forgot the Blood Ravens, they can look at another players army, take all the relics and use these for themselfs in that battle.
But the Necrons are trying to steal the Blood Ravens Relics.
But the Necrons are trying to steal the Blood Ravens Relics.
But what if the Necrons ARE the relics?
But what if the Necrons ARE the relics?
Highest dice roll decides which army takes the other.
And the player actually gets the army.
But what if the Necrons ARE the relics?
Instant win for BR then.

Do I just have to get some kasrkins and call it a day? I'd rather not spend money on metal models [editline]20th November 2011[/editline] Nvm I found the melta guns seperate, but they are still metal. Can I use super glue to glue them onto plastic dudes?
