Germany has a huge 40k scene dude
I know, but in a gamestore I was to watch, everyone was a huge -super serious- asshole. When I asked them about rules and so on, they told me to piss off. Don't really want that kind of company.
And I mainly want to try painting and so on before I make an actuall army
This isn't a cutscene for the game. It was made by an Australian company to prove that they "got" 40k.
The first "prototype" to Space Marine was developed by an Australian company back in 2008. The visuals looked okay, but the combat was god-awful. Many times in the demo, the main character just stood around while getting shot and stabbed, and the primary function of the bolter was to light up hallways and to briefly stun enemies.
He can make a Company Command Squad and two veteran squads with the units he gets in the Battleforce though. =)
Did not know that, most battleforces have no commander so you have to buy your own, I guess the IG default HQ is rather versatile though.

I remember that, could've sworn this animation and that abomination were different things entirely.

Find another gamestore, and really, if you're willing to pay the price, GW carries most of what a begginer needs.

That animation was made by Plastic-wrap before they were hired to do the E3 2009 Space Marine trailer.

One of the worst and most illogical parts of the movie, but made up for by the captain coming in a few seconds later, though, thats how the chaplain should have been fighting.

Aye the imperial guard one is definietly the best one in terms of getting an army straight out of the box, would've been a lot better if it was a chimera instead of sentinel though.

Jesus Christ this animated film about 8 foot tall steroid munchers in space armour is CORNY. HOW DARE THEY!

They just chose a terrible studio and gave them an unreasonable budget.
I want more 40K movies! Oh dear god I hope they do one with Imperial Guard facing Chaos separatists. If they make a Gaunt's Ghosts movie, I will give them all my money!
The main problem is that GW will never give enough enough funds for a truly fitting movie. The movie could make or break their business, really, and from what they tried (SPEHS MAHREENS, THE FLAGSHEEP OF THEIR 40K UNIVERSE), it just doesn't seem to be working out.
Radical / Puritan meter. Stormtrooper, Arbite, Techpriestess, (blue) ELDAR WARLOCK, ORK and SoB companions. Romance options. $15 day 0 DLC. Plot about an ancient (Necron) evil awakening.
There are enough abhuman races in the Imperium to make things interesting without having to include ALIENS.
It's a Mass Effect joke

I would have bought the DLC if it replaced wrex with an ork.

And gave them a terrible story. Some of the animations and minor details put in were fantastic, but overall render quality was low. I can understand why they gave them a low budget, WH40K is still a niche thing, so they couldn't risk losing a lot of money on what is their first movie. Budget for the entire thing was just £1Million.

Live action Band of Brothers style, quasi documentary Gaunts Ghosts TV series would be fucking fantastic.

Didn't Abnett write it?

Apparantley, though it's way way more terrible than his usual standard.

I reckon he didn't think much of the movie so just did a really quick story for them to follow and let them have at it so he could go back to killing off more of our favourite characters.
Hehe, I guess he made the story so simple so he would not scare away any non 40K fans watching the movie. I really wish they hadn't played it so safe with the movie, but still, I don't know how much money it made.

It's not that it's simple, just that it's entirely bad.
They should of given them a better budget and hire some better animators, I wouldn't mind the graphics of it if the animations were good.

Investing £1million in a film that they didn't know whether it'd succeed or not is a pretty risky thing, hell, the budget of that film was about 1/7th of GW's annual profit.
Speaking of GW, their share price is at 410.

Compared with what? I don't know much about shares/stocks.

The stock of Apple is almost 376, for comparison.
Well GW resin is worth more than gold in its weight
let's not even get to finecast
