Speaking of Ahriman, I finally ordered his model a few days ago. Cant wait till it gets here.
Any suggestions for color schemes? I'm leaning to the right one. Robes would be shaded of course, so they wont be that bright.
I like the one on the right
Staff should glow with power a bit.
Staff should glow with power a bit.
Somewhere around the eye perhaps.
I'd say the Marines. They're a bit smarter, faster-moving, and assuming there's at least one dude with a Battle-Rifle, someone is going to get head-shotted. And that's assuming the Guardsmen don't fall apart without a Commisar. Though whether their armor could be penetrated by Halo's weaponry is up to debate, but if anyone gets lucky and hits them in a spot that isn't armored they're as good as dead. I think they're a bit too similar to compare, really. The only difference is one has lasers and might simply call a truce if any of them feel a bit heretical that day, and the other has regular guns and is compartively less stupid.
You're comparing soldiers that go against relatively human like aliens, slow zombies at best to soldiers that go against aliens which are nothing similar to humans, space locusts which are known to devour biospheres of entire planets and deamons that can drive an entire planet insane when they spawn. Halo marines do look better at first glance compared imperial guardsmen but that is in comparison to the enemies they face.
I'm wanting to get into this, but what should I get to start me out? If it's of any importance, I'd like to be the Eldar race.
Still gives him enough time to steal half of Ultramar.
And loot part of Fenris.
I'm wanting to get into this, but what should I get to start me out? If it's of any importance, I'd like to be the Eldar race.
Tutorial battle at a local gaming shop.
Tutorial battle at a local gaming shop.
There are no local gaming shops (as far as I know), so that won't work. Anything different I could possibly do?
I'm wanting to get into this, but what should I get to start me out? If it's of any importance, I'd like to be the Eldar race.
First, find a copy of the Eldar Codex. You can find digital copies online, on such sites such as scribd.com. Then, you need to decide on a point value. I'd start off with a 500pt army, and work your way up. You need at least one HQ choice and two troops choices, and then from there you can fill your remaining points with units from any other category, provided you don't exceed the maximum limit of a single type of unit. I wouldn't worry so much about that until you start reaching games of upwards of 1,500pts. Eldar specialize in.. well.. specializing. Howling Banshees, for example, wear somewhat decent armor, but are expensive in point value and lack any decent ranged weapons. However, they are meant to destroy heavily armored units in melee, such as Terminators or Space Marines, whereas units like Striking Scorpions, another melee unit, wear heavier armor and are more durable, but have weaker melee weapons and are meant to take on large groups of unarmored units. In either case, both units have their specific roles, and were Howling Banshees to pursue, say, a Tyranid gaunt swarm, they would find their light armor lacking, and their powerful weapons put to waste against foes that are able to be killed equally as well by weaker weapons. You also have Fire Dragons for close ranged anti-vehicle, Dark Reapers for covering fire, Swooping Hawks for mobility and close combat, Warp Spiders for stealth and hit and run attacks, Shining Spears for their speed on their jetbikes, and Dire Avengers and Guardians for general skirmishes. Eldar are quite a difficult race to start out with, but, with enough research, you can pretty much take down larger forces through superior tactics. However, Eldar are also very vulnerable and fragile, and, if you're not careful, you could find your squads forced into roles in which they are incapable of fulfilling. Just a brief recommendation: don't buy the codex unless you really need it, or you can find it cheap. I've managed to build my army over the last few years using online databases and such. Onto painting: Do you have any particular Craftworld in mind? If none of them suit you, what colors do you like? And also, remember to basecoat models before painting the primary color, avoid globing paint, excessive gloss, clashing colors and always remember to use washes or watered-down paints to provide basic shading and contrast. Anything different I could possibly do?
I was under the impression that there were no game stores in my state until recently. I found one last year, and earlier this morning, much to my surprise, I found another which is only fifteen minutes away from my house. .
There are no local gaming shops (as far as I know), so that won't work. Anything different I could possibly do?
If there are no local gaming shops where are you going to play? Who are you going to play with?
http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/storelocator/search.jsp
Cool, I just found another game store about a half hour away. That leaves me with three in my general area, two of which I didn't even know existed before today.
http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/storelocator/search.jsp
Huh, the Nearest one is 30 miles away. Thought it would be farther away.
30 miles is pretty far for a game of Warhammer.
30 miles is pretty far for a game of Warhammer.
Yeah, i don't think I can find the time to do that. I was thinking I might just order the things online, and play with a buddy.
Make sure that you're pointing the nozzle directly at the models. I was getting a poor prime job, and then the guys at GW noticed that the nozzle on my can is tilted so you can't aim it the can straight at the models.
Thanks man, I think that might be exactly what my problem is. I think I've been aiming with the center of the can, not the nozzle, so the spray would be angled away from the models.
If you can't find a store check a comic book shop that sells Magic cards. A lot of them also happen to sell Games Workshop as well. The comic book shop near me doesn't show up as carrying them but they have a much better selection than the one that does show up on the store finder and is in the freaking basement in the smallest space they could ever find.
On he subject of Halo vs 40K a freind of mine who REALLY likes the halo franchise discussed it with me. Surprisingly, we came to the conclusion that it varies from work to work. In the Dawn of War sires, space marines die in their droves whereas many of the halo games pit one soldier against a whole army and still come out with a brand spanking new paint job. Conversely in halo wars and the "Space Marine" game it pretty much the other way round.
Maybe skulls are considered relics among Chaos Space Marines and Khorne is the god of Relics. Mind = blown
Relics for the Relic God. ARTIFACTS FOR THE ARTIFACT THRONE.
Bread for the Bread God SCONES FOR THE SCONE THRONE
Bread for the Bread God SCONES FOR THE SCONE THRONE
This never gets old. It's just like this, IMO:
I bet at the ending of Chaos Rising where the Force Commander goes into the warp, once he comes back in a thousand years, he will have tons of ultramarine relics and will be greeted back into the chapter not because of his triumph, but because all of his relics.
He returns towing Terra.
He returns towing Terra.
no, he returns towing Leman Rus and the Emperor's Shinbone

looks so much better IRL
looks so much better IRL
Would have looked a lot better if the mural was only on the hatch, not spilling onto the chassis. Still really nice though.
yeah i'm allready kind of regretting not thinking it through properly
looks so much better IRL
God damn you are an awesome painter. If you ever do a Wartrukk, you should paint the same thing, only with a warboss and the text being ''WAAAGH''.
The one on the right looks the best, but you should keep the 'horns' on the staff as 'ragged bone' color.
