Blood Magpies is a joke. Blood Ravens stealing relics, is not.
I was thinking a story about the Tyranids would be quite interesting. One about the experiences of the soldiers when they first arrived or something like following a Imperial Guard regiment that's tasked with stalling the creatures as they fail miserably.

First short story in the Last Chancers has that. Plus so does the ultramarines Omnibus.
annoyingly they seem to have cut all the fluff stories from their website, there used to be some nice short stories on there for all the armies.

Theres the only one I can find, written by Abnett, no less.
I discovered tomb king shields don't look any different on the vampire count skeletons, so now I'm building a tomb kings army out of the those guys rather than the current Tomb King range (because their scale and sculpts are horrible).
Hey, it works 'cause they're all undead. v:v:v
Is there a description of what the Nicassar look like anywhere? I've seen alot of fan-made pictures about them having tentacled-faces but don't know where that idea came from.
Would it be possible for IG with proper tech/holy support to capture a chaos Shadowsword and use it?

If there is a local Enginseer around, he just might whack the chaos out of the machine with a wrench. Cue awesome.

Yeah, I guess some machine-excorcising is always possible
All it really is - rebooting the machine to default.
After singing songs to the Omnissiah for three hours, burning incense and dumping a bucket of sacred oil into the engine, of course.

Or a horror that follows a single Imperial Guardsman sent to face the beasts, but his entire squad was killed and he's forced to run and hide from them.
Guardsmen? Running? That's preposterous!
I bet that by 40k windows XP will still be in use and it's literally all Engiseers know.
It's basically general repairs/maintainence (of any kind) surrounded by religious ritual, benedictions and superstition.

So, it looks like the update process is going to be the same after all.
So I just came back from a game against Lizardmen. Well I play Warriors of Chaos, and knowing that Lizards are less likely to run away than other armies, I liked this a lot. So He brought 20 Temple Guard, 2 blocks of 15 Saurus, and some skinks and a Lord. I brought 15 Chosen, 15 Warriors, 10 Marauders, and a Sorcerer. MY Chosen walked straight through the Saurus and the Temple Guard and were left with 5 guys by the end of the game. My Warriors had about the same, my Marauders were gone because we had for some reason a bunch of zombie wood elves running around. By the end of the game, I find Nurgle spells are REALLY GOOD against Lizardmen, so next time I fight them, Chosen and a Sorcerer are a must.
I thought it was pretty cool in one of the Cain books he sees a dataslate with the mysterious machine code made up of 1s and 0s that only Techpriests are able to decipher. Makes me wonder how much of their so called "magic" is actually pretty mundane computing stuff.

Yeah but you can't really stretch that out into a book... Also if you want some stories about lone humans being beyond fucking dead then read some Lovecraft.
I fucking love me some lovecraft. It was all I read in cuba. Well lovecraft and steam punk. I love steampunk.
My Emperor this is getting fucking tedious. Once again I've tried using white spray, and once again I've wrecked the models I've sprayed. Like suggested the nozzle was pointed directly at models, I did a waving motion across the models, keeping the max 20 cm away. It was raining yesterday, but today it was hot and dry as rural Australia usually is. The spray came out, like powder on blobs. Even just the first pass put little blobs which I can't get off without a file and knife. I'm getting desperate now, does it need to be more humid around here?Does there need to be more moisture in the air? Does Army Painter ship all the defective white spray primes to Australia?
I just use drybrushing to basecoat my minyas

Really most of it is going to be stuff that's otherwise mundane, half of the stuff that Heresy era archaeologists find is stuff like plays from William Shakespire so obviously loads of stuff has been forgotten or misread.

Oh god what if they find a copy of a Midsummer's Night Dream?
WHAT IS THIS HERESY

I did exactly that, shook the can for over 3 minutes, used even motions, but when the spray came out, it was barely more than powder, and where it didn't leave little blogs of paint, it left a sand quarter-coat. It rains tomorrow apparently, so I'll try again when there is more moisture in the air, maybe that will help. As as aside, I've used several different colours and brands, and they all came out fine. Every white I've tried has had the same problem.

When techpriests talk binary to each other, I always imagine them sounding like dial up modems.

Reminds me of that image that theorised that the Astronomicon is a modem and the Astropaths are singing as a binary chorus
[sp]And the Tyranids are pissed as we have been dialling their voice-line for millenia[/sp]

Stuff like sucking in air through your teeth is seen as either a benediction or you inhaling the essense of the machine spirit before starting your work (in reality the gesture is one of "oh thats going to be costly/difficult to repair."
