They might have been talking about proxy models, or just a friendly house game where you and your opponent agreed to let you play auxiliaries. And the main Codex would probably be the BRB(big red book) or the main rulebook.
I'll see if DoW II comes on sale on Steam by 10th and buy it even if it doesn't. I've wanted to get into the 40k lore for a long time now.

Yeah, house rules allow you to do pretty much anything, but in tournaments, not so much.

DoW 2 isn't exactly the best place to start learning 40k lore.. :v:

Hey, can anyone help me come up with a name for my DIY chapter? I use a dark green and black color scheme and my chapter is centered around serpents. Theme is also Dark Angel-ish.
I was thinking, "Order of the Serpent" or "Knights of the Snake".
The army started as a Dark Angels army back in 2007, but I ended up paint stripping everything and starting from scratch.
I have a lot more nastalgia for DoW1 and the expansions than I do for those 90 games like the Mario Games, I remeber waiting for each expansion as a fat and tender nerdy ass looser and I would play games with my dad and shit, it was so awsome at the time
