Could someone give me feedback on my planned 500 point IG list, please?
Oh thank god they're giving up the DoW2 "tacticool" bullshit and going for a more traditional RTS game.
The tactical part of DOW2 made it sort of unique, don't you think?
Why aren't they?
Also, using fleets to distract an enemy while your ground teams go to sabotage their main base would be pretty cool.
Because in 40K the distances space battles occur at are so far a distance, any movement will open up gaps inthe lines allowing some transports to get through.
Space Battles in 40K usually go like this:
Defenders defend as long as they can, while attackers attack, slipping transports through now and again, defenders eventually run low on ship power, so split off, head out of system and make repairs and do hit and runs, coming back in full force when the enemy fleet elements are reduced down to a manageable level, in the mean time attackers unload transports as quickly as possible.
What tacticool bullshit? All the weapons/upgrades are canon
What tacticool bullshit? All the weapons/upgrades are canon
The fact that 40k is all about giant battles, then they go and make it a squad based rts.
Oh okay
I just hope it doesn't turn into BOX EVERYTHING A CLICK

This is tacticool. Not DoW2.
Tactic00l Marines

It's fine for a 500 point army, little light on raw manpower but thats about it.
I'd move the special weapons around to make the squads more balanced, since although you want to keep the vox safe they need to be in range and a nade launcher or even plasma would help.
If it's a standard russ (not sure what you mean by heavy bolter emplacement) keep it in the middle, com squad behind left, vox squad tad more left, mechanised squad free to roam since they carry the most crump to move up close and get hits in.
you can do something else with that five points than just buy a bolter

Have you noticed how long every battle took in DOW1?
If you didn't rush, you would have to gather an army which would take a while, if that army failed, you have to gather a new one, the cycle goes on.
They probably made it a squad based RTS so players wouldn't have to go through that over and over again, then again i might be wrong, feel free to prove me otherwise.
Well, I hope they will make DoW3 about both tactics and giant battles. Especially I would like to see a point based system just like in tabletop.

That's not even tacticool
The tactical part of DOW2 made it sort of unique, don't you think?
It was a fucking CoH reskin how is that unique
That's not even tacticool
Yes it is. That is a rail and a magpull mag on a AK-47. If that isn't tacticool, I don't know what is.
It's a G36 flash hider, Command Arms X47 rail, waffle mag, EOTech 552, Aimpoint magnifier, and vertical foregrip on an Afghani AMD-65.
Yes it is. That is a rail and a magpull mag on a AK-47. If that isn't tacticool, I don't know what is.
It's not an AK-47
Not every gun that looks similar to an AK-47 is an AK-47
[editline]13th July 2011[/editline]
God forbid you put stuff on your gun that's actually useful
I say we all use unmodified guns from the 50s so no one gets called tacticool
If it's a standard russ (not sure what you mean by heavy bolter emplacement)
You have the sponsoons and then you can buy a weapon emplacement for the guy sticking out of the turret.
Missile launchers are enough if you want the ammunition to be that large.
Not as portable as a gun with a barrel as tall as an ogryn.
Wait a second, I know. SNIPER PATTERN BANEBLADES! Whoo!
Baneblades made to engage enemies at super-long ranges. fire highly accelerated bolter shells with a massive explosive payload.
One shot one kill taken to the extreme.
The Baneblade already fires a jet-assisted shell. What you're suggesting would be a Baneblade loaded with space-APFSDS.
[editline]13th July 2011[/editline]
Yes, all those rails and shit enhance the weapon's maneuverability and accuracy, and may save that soldier's life.
However, in any other situation, it's just needlessly tacticool.

No, it isn't. It's based on squad interaction and always has been. Rogue Trader was small tactical interactions and so were 1st and 2nd. Ginormous armies were presented as unique one offs by fanboys that had ridiculous amounts of free cash, and sales wise, epic was an abysmal failure compared to their main lines, whilst small stuff like Space Hulk sold out repeatedly, over and over. (and still does)
Gigantic armies were presented in very specific segment of the fluff and yearly events planned by dozens of people, and always have been. Also the press release says rather clearly that you'll be paying for all your extras, just as you do with standard GW fare. Want plasma devs? You'll be buying them as DLC.
Want a chapter other than the eight they initially offer? You'll be buying that after the fact too, want grey knights? You'll be buying them. want an inquisition command staff instead of vanilla IG? You'll be paying for that "premium" dlc, same for their stormtrooper bodyguard/standard squad.
But hey, you got the giant ridiculous army you can't even control properly that you wanted right? It only cost triple what the vanilla game cost.
Sweet deal.

Fluff wise, it's about large battles.

There are quite a few patterns that are made to basically be a huge sniper rifle and/or anti-armour rifle (they have an extremely low rte of fire and are very vulnerable, but when they hit they hit fucking hard). By that I mean same as a role, as they use energy weapons and not kinetic ones.
My how would I love to do something EAW ish with playing a space battle then a mini campaign to take a planet.
Of course with chance for the 'Nids to pop up or everything go to shit with the Chaos troops planet side open up a portal or somtething.

Perhaps you're talking about an Exitus sniper rifle?
My friend got a Tau Battle suit (He plays Eldar normaly) but he couldn't figure out what weapons to put on him... so he put them all on him. I'll try to get a picture from him later.

it's about all kinds of battles. Huge is one aspect.

Good heavens with Crisis Battlesuits YOU DO NOT GLUE ON THE ARMS OR ANY OF THE WEAPONS TO THEM.
Leaving them blank leaves your Crisis suits open for flexibility and loading them up depending on the chap you're going to be fighting against. I always give them Plasma Rifles. That shit's lethal. I then load them up with flamers or missile pods depending on who I'm fighting.
if you don't glue on the arms how are they gonna stay on hmmmm
