Id really like to get into the table top version of this. Ive played Dawn of War-through- Chaos rising. Dawn of war 2-through- Retribution. Kill team and basically anything Warhammer im in love with. Im going to be picking up a summer job soon and was wondering how much getting into this would cost? I know its not going to be cheap and im not expecting to go BALLS TO THE WALL crazy and buy everything in sight. But a average cost for the basics. Plus do you have to paint your own models? (not complaining cause it seems fun and interesting aspect of the game) Or do they sell pre-painted models? Thanks to anyone who answers itll help me out alot.
Me and my other Dark Heresy group ran a small game last night, 2v2 1k points per person.
Since my opponents were both Imperial Guard and I'd never known them to use anything but platoons of infantry in buildings with camo netting, I took 2 squads of wracks, Haemonculi, 10 Reavers, a Voidwing and 10 warriors in a raider with a blaster for tank hunting.
The game starts and they've gone entirely mechansed. 3 Hydras utterly wreck one Raider in the first turn, killing 2 Wracks. Then a Chimera opens fire and explodes another wreck, killing 7 of the Wracks inside. A Sentinel Lascannons the last one, exploding it and killing 5 of the warriors. Now I've turbo-boosted my Reavers behind the Sentinels for that lovely weakened armour but he's infiltrated Marbo there. I just need to get a few shots off before he throws his demo charge.
Plus this made me want it like a crack fiend. :v:

Paint it yourself.
It is really, really expensive to do so. You need to buy paint, miniatures and possibly good art stuff. Games workshop does sell a stater kit that contains knives, a saw, glue and paint

What army do you intend to create? Only with that can you properly estimate how much you need.
Just been playing Soulstorm. It isn't AS bad as I thought it'd be, the AI doesn't use too many stupid Flying Units which is nice, but there's a definite lack of overhaul mods for it. I want Firestorm over Kauvara :frown:
Giant titans to get stomped by? Gameworkshop, take all of my monis
Would be sweet if they added Ork Stompas to the MMO aswell.
Is there a way to give Nobz more firepower? Nothing seems to be able to punch through the Terminator armor.
Screw nobz, get Loota's and more boys.
Anyone else excited for the 40K MMO?
Yep, gonna continue being excited for the next 3 years while they figure out how the shooting is going to work.

From what's been shown 3rd person it looks like. Not completely sure though.
I wonder. If you're a commissar can you kill another player character in order to give a buff to everyone around you? If so that would be fucking awesome.
Wow, the Majority of stuff in the Killteam game is from DoW2. Quite annoying, not suprising though.
ANy tips for DoWII, I always start hilariously sucking by the time the archnoids(I'm a n00b to the universe, forgive me) appear.
The warp spiders you mean?
The bugs in general...I haven't played it in awhile.
The warp spiders you mean?
Probably means Tyranids.
Archnoids = tyranids?
You could have said Zerg or something
You must use flamers or bolters.

Sorry, getting my Starship Troopers mixed with my 40k.
Is dark millienium online going to be a traditional WoW style RPG or will it have a strategy mix to it?

The fact that they made Kill Team to 'warm you up' for Space Marine is quite odd aswell.

Possible a bit of strategy. It actually looks like you have to aim, and theres cover.

Prepare to swear at your screen. Alot. 8[

It's supposedly going to be a unique MMO, and we'll also have vehicles, which will add up to it in case any of you dislike WoW styled MMOs.
Just conquered the Chaos Stronghold in Soulstorm as the Dark Eldar. Took 2 hours because they kept spamming Raptors.
i want to start collecting the table top figures, the nids seem so awesome compared to the general humanoids that all the other races are made up of but they look so hard to paint...
i mean just look at the trygon...

i also lack somebody to play with...
Nids aren't too hard to paint, certainly easier when compared with chaos and the orks.

I really enjoy space marine/ orks. But whats the cheapest and easiest to begin with?
if you've got a friend that would be interested in going halfs with you, I'd recommend getting the assault on black reach box set. That'll give you pretty much everything you want (orks / space marines, rulebooks and other nice stuff) and you'll have a buddy to try out the actual game with.
also its cheaper to buy the models off somewhere like amazon or possibly your nearest hobby store as oposed to from a games workshop, how ever if you've got a GW store with easy travel distance go have a look in, usualy they give you a free space marine minature if you say its you want to start collecting and various tips on painting etc.
How much a titan normally costs to field, pointwise? All kinds of them.

Following along this guys advice, it's great if you ask for a painting tutorial, you learn knowledge that you will use the whole way through your hobby career. I went into one, with virtually no idea how to paint miniatures, and came out confident enough, that the next week when I had done some painting, everyone commented on the quality. Also got a free Aragorn model, which they used to teach me with.

Marines, you need less of them. Thus less to paint/assemble and cheaper.
