Got a source for them never going to make a fluff correct game? It sounds completely wrong to me and unless i see recent proof i won't believe it, it seems stupid. But then again..so does Matt Ward....
also the fact that fluff itself is constantly contradicting itself and that there will never be a 100% true, correct fluff
A lascannon is NOT a sniper. They got Lascannons wrong, Space Marines wrong (Size..and since when do they have shields on each marine?), Plasma guns wrong...Suprisingly got bolters mostly right. Heavy bolters wrong. Although i guess weapons can be explained by saying there are a large amount of variants and Forge worlds which could offer slight differences (such as a weaker but faster firing plasma weapon) For example, the Lascannon could be a Man-Portable Lascannon or whatever they are called which are designed to be used by a single person. Seriously, why is it so difficult to make a game that doesn't butcher fluff in some way? Firewarrior got everything right. Appranantly they now have foreheads which can surive the same as tanks can (see Dreadknights)
I dont think the lascannon is meant to be the sniper, if you go on the official website theres a stalker pattern bolter which they describe as the sniper type weapon. The gameplay doesnt match the interview completely.. http://www.spacemarine.com/gb/game/weapons-gb
also the fact that fluff itself is constantly contradicting itself and that there will never be a 100% true, correct fluff
The difference is that it's stuff being retconned.I don't really consider the Novels true fluff/canon.
Chambers two years ago, and several posts from Noun and Task3r on relic's home forums.
Two years ago. How can having some things correct and others not correct make sense? And what about Firewarrior? It makes no sense. You are saying things such as having a Space Marine the correct high will draw people away from W40K? And incase anyones wondering, here is the Man-portable Lascannon i was talking about, it's from Dark Heresy.
GW has hardly been fluff consitent anyway.
GW has hardly been fluff consitent anyway.
It's difficult really, it depends what the subject is. There MANY different variants of pretty much everything.

I'm not doing anything. You're confusing messenger and message. GW seems to profitable, and relic has produced games that millions of people buy. Apparently some are quite content with things as they are. 2. Commoditized gaming isn't based on specific user concerns, it's based on selling as many titles as possible in the largest quantities you can logistically produce, and we haven't even bothered to cover design decision based on engine and developer issues/preferences, much less game balance.

Obviously people are content - the ones who have no idea anything is wrong. To them it doesn't matter if it is fluff correct or not, so why would it matter if it was? It matters to people that it isn't fluff correct. So what if Firewarrior didn't sell well...doesnt' change the fact it's fluff correct.
I dont think the lascannon is meant to be the sniper
They said it was in one of the E3 videos, and it has a scope/zoom.
It can perform the same function as a sniper rifle, but on power-armored enemies. Even the tabletop stat line support this.
Fluff inaccuracy (especially in the Dark Millennium MMO) is due to balance, most people would not like having to make 40+ IG player groups to take down a single Chaos player (I'd be fine with it as long as CSMs are restricted in number).
Damn this chaos marine painted with Electric Blue is gonna look awesome.
I recently got Dawn of War, with Dark Crusade and Winter Assault, and just want to know if there's anything I should know before playing through?

It's stuff like the high of a space marine, the firing speed of a Bolter, etc. For weapons balance (E.g squad sizes) it's fine. But when it's stuff that is irrelevant to gameplay it isn't.
The exact height of a space marine and the exact rate of fire of a bolter have never actually been pinned down in canon.
I recently got Dawn of War, with Dark Crusade and Winter Assault, and just want to know if there's anything I should know before playing through?
Not really, unless you want multiplayer tips.
Not really, unless you want multiplayer tips.
Nahh. Much more fun to find out myself, if I get really stuck, I'll ask for that. I was more referring to if there's any bugs or anything which are gonna break it. I'm already patching them up to the latest versions.
The exact height of a space marine and the exact rate of fire of a bolter have never actually been pinned down in canon.
Space marines are taller than an average human though.
Well, there's the kick bug, sometimes you might get randomly kicked from a game lobby online.
Ahh, Gotcha. I'm a bit unsure about the patches at the moment, so it's best to make sure I suppose...but Dawn of War latest patch is 1.5.1, Dark crusade is 1.2.0, and Winter Assault has no patches?
The patches automatically download when you log online, also, nobody plays on Dawn of War and Winter Assault, if you want to play online go for Dark Crusade.
I actually had no idea that the patches would do that, I've been doing it the old fashioned way. And I'm okay with multiplayer, At least I got one thing I can play it on if I want to.
Mutliplayer for Space Marine: http://www.gametrailers.com/video/multiplayer-interview-warhammer-40-000/717665 (there are 2 more too)
Why is it space marines vs space marines? They could have used orks at least.
Why is it space marines vs space marines? They could have used orks at least.
Nob, Stormboy Nob, Shoota Nob. Now that i think about it, it could work.
The Vengeance Launcher is stupid
Can I use PVC to attach models to bases?
Nob, Stormboy Nob, Shoota Nob. Now that i think about it, it could work.
DLC probably. THQ has got to make money some how.
Shields? Maybe my knowledge of fluff is lacking but when in hell did space marines get shields?
Rosarius
Honestly I'm stoked for Space Marine. I don't care if it's fluff-unfriendly, I think the point of this is to take everything awesome about Space Marines and 40k and make a big budget action game with it. Any fluff-unfriendliness seems to serve a gameplay purpose. While a lascannon isn't a sniper rifle, they wanted to include it, and what vehicles are there going to be? It's not the best, a stalker pattern bolter or something like that would be slightly better. Really though I'm not judging it's lore friendliness, more how good it's going to be as a game.

Personally Im looking forward to the level of customisability, it looks quite in-depth
