$50 to buy the special edition Salamanders hardcover alone
It's okay because I hate Space Marines but Salamanders are the only cool chapter.
It should indeed. That would be so fucking awesome, then throw in space battles and you're set.
Sadly I think that GW wouldn't like that, they'd fear it would steal too many sales from the miniatures.

So how exactly is it stupid again? No I don't have months to play with a 7k points army, and as for the IQ it seems to me it would be more intensive to command 100k units instead of the 100 of DoW2 (which is more micro than macro and therefore all about reflexes, while a large scale would be more about strategy and foreseeing the enemies actions).
You lack foresight and ability to metagme, and time scale isn't going to be much different or else it will tun into a complete fucking spam fest, as this has been shown several times over. A badly flawed idea is always a bad flawed idea.
Or spamming the most powerful/cheapest unit available.
Spamming the most powerful unit available can only be done if you have managed to secure enough resources (not to mention all unit must have a counter somehow, be it a tonne of cheaper units that will die but take witrh themselves a single huge unit that is worth 10x their cost, or just that the powerful unit(s) cost so much that you will need to be really good at everything else if you want to hoard enough resources to build one). Swarms of cheap units would have counters too, like area of effect weapons (flamethrowers, artillery and so on) and high-RoF weapons.

Scale and balancing/pacing are two different things. Yes balancing a large-scale game is much harder, but far from impossible.
As long as everything has something which can counter it spam should not be an issue (not one that can't be dealt with anyway). As for having to foresee what the enemy does, scouting can tell you a lot (for example if there is one "high-tech" resource and the opponent is hoarding that one resource, you can be sure he'll be going for high tier units and vehicles). As for timescale it would definitely be slower paced than DoW2, but again it doesn't mean everyone will just build up 100000 tanks and A-move, as long as there is an effective counter.
Large scale like SupCom doesn't have to become a spamfest, it's all in the balancing/counters (if the devs then can actually pull it off is another story).
I'm tired of the Legions in dawn of war, they should give us a warband like the Night Lords or Thousand Sons to play as.
You know, when i think about it, aren't Rubric Marines like Necrons?
In concept, that is.
Kinda different.
Necrons are soulless digitised minds in metal bodies and rubrics are sealed in some cases almost mindless souls in metal armours.
Might be closer to compare them towards eldar wraith machinery.
Also to every who wants to be dow to be along the lines of Supreme commander.
Isn't supreme commander about 4 times as micro and macro intensive as DOW 1? I remember people complaining all the micro took the fun out of wh40k (to my disagreement)
Most people tend to forget that supcom has multiple game stages and has at the same time the samemap control mechanics as dow 1.
In the early game you extremely destructive early scouts - think vespids from early DC on drugs, and the whole game requires massive tech macro builups on top of that.
I know people who tend to manually dodge artillery or bomber dance.
Also a think to keep in mind.
Though I could understand a CnC scale Wh40k game.

Supcom2 was just spam a single unit to win - E.G Gunships.
Yeah but you still needed far better macro than the opponent in order to win. And I think they did somewhat balance it out.
Also Supcom 1 was spam tier 2 units anyways. Since they were the most cost effective. The question is what you did withthe units.
I really want DoW III to give you this planet map, with the simple objective of taking the planet. Sort of like the Total war games with the Earth map.

Dark Crusade sort of had that but I disliked the whole "BUILD A NEW BASE EVERY TIME" aspect. Would be better ToW like where you make units in a turn based map. Or just have a story like the first game.
I'd like consistent armies, ala Total War.
Supcom2 was just spam a single unit to win - E.G Gunships.
I believe we were talking about Sup Com 1, not Sup Com 2, which I personally believe is mediocre.
SupCom 1, you had to produce a shit ton of land and air vehicles in order to stand a chance against any of the AI, let alone players. It would just be cool to have base building back on a huge scale, very large units (IE titans and such), and things like artillery, all of which couldn't appear in a tactical game like DoW2.

Both Soulstorm and Dark Crusade have exactly that, and although your armies aren't persistent, you can buy retinue units that you start each match with.
The only thing I could think of reading Fulgrim was "The Emperor created this super human to lead his armies....and he's a fucking idiot." At what point, even to a primarch, does a fucking talking sword seem fucking normal!
Yeah Fulgrim brought dumbass to a whole new level. But honestly they were so hardcore atheist that they would not accept that there were entities in the warp.
It started out slowly in his head and it was perfectly normal to think that it was some part of you brain being a douche. After a while it just fucked him up so bad it didn't matter if the demon showed itself.
Overall it was not totally beyond belief
All the Horus Heresy books are still in print, aren't they? If they are i might buy the first one.
A few years ago i brought some books cheap from the black library. Can anyone tell me what are in these Omnibus:
The soul drinkers omnibus
Grey Knights Omnibus
Ultramarines Omnibus
Dawn of War omnibus
It's annoying because i have:
Soul drinker, The bleeding chalice
Dead sky black Sun, Warriors of ultramar, Nightbringer
Dark Adeptus, Grey Knights
Dawn of War Ascension
For the Emperor, Caves of Ice, The Traitors Hand
Ragnars claw, wolfblade, Space wolf
And as the rest of the books from those series are out of print i can't get them, so will have to get the Omnibus but i don't know what are in them.
right, in the soul drinker omnibus you get: Soul drinker, Bleeding Chalice and Crimson Tears, which are followed by the separate books Chapter War and Hellforged
The Grey Knights omnibus includes: Grey Knights, Dark Adeptus, Hammer of Daemons
Ultramarine Omnibus includes: Chains of Commands, Nightbringer, Warriors of Ultramar and Dead sky black sun. These are followed by (may or may not be in correct order) The Killing Ground, Courage and Honor and The Chapters Due.
The Blood Ravens (Dawn of war) omnibus includes: Dawn of War, Trials of Isador, Dawn of War: Ascension and Dawn of War: Tempest
the middle ones you now know and the last 3 are inlcuded in either of the Space Wolf omnibuses i can't remember which specifically as I've loaned them.

what the fuck are you smoking
The Soul Drinkers is a pretty good read if you're willing to exclude the sheer derp of the first book.

Army painter maybe? BA and Fists aren't exactly hard to make with one of those.
So that's confirmed? We better be able to add our own badges.
Just watched ultramarines the movie, yeah. When the chaplain got shot I had the need to shout "he's got two wounds left!".
So that's confirmed? We better be able to add our own badges.
No I said maybe. As in guessing. As in speculation. As in not confirmed.
if there's an army painter it better be like a 3d version of the B&C one
So wait, Space Marine actually has multiplayer? Is the only way to get different color schemes and shit the pre-order offers?
If it is, I'd go with Best Buy's. Chaos schemes for the win.

Yes. It's 8v8 Marines vs Chaos Marines. See the steam store page
There might also be coop too (not sure though)
