I would like the town screens to look like in homm V in the beta phase (3d town with fixed camera.)
I loved the Haven in beta. Kind of reminded me of castle from III.
Also this screen looks blurry, and it will be hard to distinguish buildings. Also full window view = best view.

Probably won't change much in the final version, but stretching the town screen over the entire screen (which, if the aspect ratio is kept, should not look too bad at all) and then moving all the buttons onto it should be possible, considering they said they want to make the game moddable.
The town being a window is not the end of the world, but it's a huge hit to immersion. I won't feel like you're inside the town.

I think it will look less blurry and better in motion (or it will be made less blurry in the final version), simply because it can't be that blurry I mean I can't see shit (it's too blurry to go unnoticed by the dev team).

Exactly. And I hope the unit panel will be resized, it takes about 1/4 of the screen. Hopefully it's just the resolution of the screenshot though. It's not like I can find anything seriously wrong in the game, but there are those small things just like town windows that irritate me. I'm happy they've delayed it to September, maybe they'll reconsider some things.

Unless I am mistaken, linking to leaks/warez/whatever can get you banned, but it can be discussed freely. As for me, I'll refrain, simply because it would feel like spoiling the end product.

Got a Beta code in my mail, so I guess I will play the beta (thought only some stores gave out keys, turns out all pre-orders give you one). Not sure about the Terms of Agreement yet though so I don't know how strict the NDA is.
If I ever manage to fucking download the thing fuck why must they make it so hard to find.

The servers were being raped yesterday and I couldn't download it. Now they seem to work so I'll be reporting back as soon as I've played it (as much as the NDA will let me, but it should be pretty allowing, considering everyone who has preordered gets it, it's not exactly supersecret).
Alright looks like there is no NDA at all (nothing about it in the official forum, nor any NDA agreement when starting the game), so here are the first impressions of the first 5-10 minutes:
-The game looks gorgeous, to the point of nearly not feeling like a Heroes (but this is a positive thing, I jsut have to adjust to it). Not only are the graphics miles above anything before, the animations are a lot smoother.
-Game feels slower, but this is probably because I can not set the gamespeed (usually I had it at higher than normal in other Heroes). It's not necessarily a bad thing.
-Music is great as always, have not heard any town musics yet though because I haven't reached any town as of yet.
-You can use a persistent Hero (but they are divided by factions, so you can't use the same hero for Inferno and Necro, for example) or you can use a default one (you can also say fuck persistence and use the custom hero only for one game).
-The game has widget integration, like Skype (was positively surprised that it does not have Twitter or Facebook integration, at least not yet).
Been taking loads of screens, will upload them later together with more impressions.

Also tweaked the settings in the options menu (found a speed setting) and now it's all a lot better (units feel way heavier than they did in previous Heroes, which is a good thing).
This is probably a silly question but I can't find the answer by googling, is a random map generator included?
I'm just itching to play this, might preorder on Steam soon for Beta.

I don't know if it's just the beta, but the difficulty is quite fucked. I am chilling with a small starter army and a semi-empty town, when out of fucking nowhere [B]THRONGS[/B] of spearmen and crossbowmen arrive and kill my ass.
Anyway more impressions (sadly not so good ones):
- The town [I]windows[/I] feel eh, there is no immersion in the town at all, in fact I didn't even hear the town music (might just have been me missing it though).
- The 3 tier system just feels so wrong. It's just no.
Oh if you have a large monitor, the town (the actual town image) will be [B]very[/B] small.

Oh and town windows are [B]not[/B] 2D, they are 3D with a fixed camera, so there goes that excuse (they said it was to make it easier on the hardware, but it's still being rendered in 3D not to mention the rest of the game is filled with intensive shadowing and lighting). Also the whole town window (the UI and all) just don't feel very right.

Also the 3 unit tier system kind of makes them lose personality, not to mention all your instincts are telling you that those two units are not in the same tier, but they are.

Units are split into 3 tiers instead of 7. That means you have Core (the 3 basic units), Elite (3 better units) and Champion (the one best unit of the faction). In some cases it makes sense (certain units are fine being in the same tier, because they look the same tier), but in most cases it feels wrong and honestly removes depth (Wave Warriors are large katana wielding snakemen and they are in the same tier as Snow maiden and Spring Spirits).
It felt way better with 7 tiers, with all units being more or less powerful, instead of now when you have 3 units that are more or less the same power (different roles though). It's hard to explain, but if you have played all the old Heroes and then play Heroes 6 it just doesn't feel right.

Well, the graphics and artstyle are a cross between the two (not as cartoony as 5 but not as dark as 3). As for the gameplay, it feels somewhat like a heavier H5, but the 3 resources, town windows and 3 unit tier system make it feels quite different. Creatures seem to have quite a whole lot more health too, so expect longer battles.

Never played King's Bounty, but as far as I know it's pretty similar to the HoMM formula (except less focused on towns and armies).

Also if any of you download the beta [B]disable save synchronising[/B]. Unless you like having to wait 2+ minutes every time you quit the game.
Alright some stuff about multi and persistent heroes:
-Seems that you have to use a persistent hero to start with, then can recruit new ones in the tavern
-Major artifacts are persistent and can actually level up.

All 7 (luckily they didn't pull a Heroes 4).
Anyway more stuff:
-There is town music (in the beta, it was obviously going to be in the final too), the Necro one sounds ok, nowhere near as good as the H3 one but not bad (can't really judge since the fucking town WINDOWS ruin the atmosphere of the town completely anyway).
-Faction unique buildings are much more interesting than what we are used to (Necro has one that stores all dead units and you can re-recruit them for a higher price). Also each faction has 4.
-The game does feel like a Heroes, but then there are moments that it doesn't. For example I often found myself asking "Well haven't been in the town for a really long town, better go there and check it out" only to remember that I was there every single turn, only that it really doesn't feel like the town at all so I thought I hadn't ever been to it. Same goes for the resources, often I find myself completely lost when looking for crystals and sulphur.
-The UI is quite bad, with small buttons and sometimes gets very cluttered (but this can very well be fixed before launch).
-The town windows do [highlight]NOT[/highlight] show every building, it only shows the town and castle upgrades. Adding insult to injury the 3D model of the town looks worse than in H5. Both could be due to the beta though (especially the bad textures of the town model).
-Everything is represented with artworks of the faces (in case of units) or just an artwork of what it is (like a scale for marketplace, while some other have an artwork of the actual building). Personally I preferred the Heroes 3 thing of showing the actual unit/building, but whatever this is a matter of preference.
