I think that Kanon was extremely more dramatic than Clannad, in the VN, there is basically [sp]No real good ending. 4 girls will die if you don't help them. Also, Yume Miru Kusuri was the first VN I've played. Then I got interested in other VNs and found Clannad. Then I lost my life for like a month playing only that. Then I played Kanon and a bunch of others Visual novel.

The stories were lame, dumb, not interesting, and seemed too unrealistic for me to invoke my suspension of disbelief in the slightest. The characters seemed dumber than rocks which only amplified matters.
But I digress, imma stop bitching about it now because I could complain about it forever and nobody here wants to read pages and pages of my bitching.

I'll remove the fact that Kanon had no heartwarming moments. There is a few, but they are very rare and few between.

Huh, I don't recall anyone [sp]dieing[/sp] in the anime. It's been a few years since I've watched it though.

The entire class didn't have a vendetta. The so-called Class Idol, Antoinette or whatever her real name was, had a personal grudge against her. The rest of the class didn't have anything against Aeka, but rather they didn't do anything to stop Ant's lackeys messing with her.
While I'll agree the kind of stuff they did to her was a bit farfetched, you also can't say that things like that haven't happened. Definitely made for interesting storytelling and a great climax IMO.

I think I've watched Kanon's anime as well, but they only followed the Canon route of Kanon in it. In the VN, there are several routes with several girls. It gets pretty dramatic.

I'd recommend having the 'community picks' be what people recommend the most, and then have the best VN list I've seen in a while in a thumbnail.
Is Utawarerumono on the list? It's not technically a VN, more of a tactical RPG, but it's pretty damn good.

Looked at some screenshots of Clannad, holy shit what a bad case of anime eyes. KS was good in the eye department but I don't want to be staring at face-dominating monster eyes for 50 hours if I ever get around to playing it

Recommended. I read it myself quite a long time ago, was one of my first VNs.

I decided against it because it's just a erotic content fest. It feels like a porn movie more than a VN. When people think of Visual Novels, they shouldn't think about Monster Girl quest.

I was used to the character design after 5 minutes of reading.
I only cared about Tomoyo though, and she looks pretty good despite her saucers, so my opinion might be slightly biased.

lol they're not anywhere close to being as bad as you describe. Now, if you were talking about Kanon then you'd have a point. If you compare Clannad and Kanon then you'll see what I mean.
