I have to say, I'm surprisingly impressed with this game/novel. I first heard about from somewhere other then Facepunch and thought, "A game where you date disabled girls? Sounds a bit weird." But then i saw this thread here on Facepunch and thought I'd see what everyone was saying about it. I was surprised when I saw how much you all seemed to like the game. So a few days ago I decided to give it a try.
When I started the game I did the first Act without using the flowchart to see what girl I would end up with without any help, it ended up being Emi. So I played through her path and finished it yesterday. I really enjoyed it, the story was great, it had a good mix of comedy, and seriousness and kept me coming back for more, the art was very nice and the animated scenes were really impressing, the music is great and really adds a lot the game, and I really liked all the characters.
So far I've only done Emi's path and I enjoyed it a lot. The first and second act were pretty nice and cheerful, the third and fourth act got pretty sad, but the good ending made everything right and good again.
I'm also surprised how much emotion this game made me feel because I'm almost never affected in such an way by movies, games, or books. I do have emotions when I'm reading books, playing games, and watching movies of course, but very rarely does anything fictional make me feel sad. This game made me feel happy at sometimes and sad at others and even an bit of both at the same time. But even though it was sad at times it felt like a good kind of sadness and left me feeling good in the end. And this was just from Emi's path, I still have the others to do.
I like that the game seems to have some good funny moments too, For example. [sp]Rin barging in on Hisao and Emi and not noticing that anything unusual was going on.[/sp] and the Kenji scenes all seem pretty amusing too.
Anyway, sorry about the long post, I just wanted to give my little review on this game/novel. I'm still surprised that I ended up liking this so much since it's basically an romance novel, which isn't something I've ever been into. But I plan to continue with the otter paths starting with Rin.
We need more people like you that actually try things before simply blowing them off.

It's always Emi on your first try. Who didn't get Emi's arc on their first time playing? Either that or it's Kenji's.

I'd say that 90% of the people in this thread tried Katawa either out of curiosity or for a laugh. I was a mixture of the two.
