Finished the story (Got the good ending with Emi) and if you ask me it was a very interesting game story-wise which was unfortunately hindered by the more adult bits as they felt very out of place and didn't fit in at all. (At least in my opinion that is)
And yes I am aware you can disable those but that's avoiding the issue.

You know there are 4 more stories right? You've only completed 1/5th of the game.
I disagree, in the Rin route they were actually quite benificient for the story, since some things (for example feelings) are better conveyed without words.

There are other ways to handle the subject matter. It annoys me that every path has a sex scene for the sake of having a sex scene.
If you want a real explanation then it's to convey how willing Emi is to get close to Hisao physically [sp]like the whore she is!!![/sp] but not emotionally, which was the backbone of the whole plot

Maybe that's the case with Emi, but you should try some other arcs, see if you feel the same about those as well.
Hanako and Rin (sort of) only have one each
Sex doesn't always have to be the grand reward of 5 years of intimate dating, real couples might do it because they enjoy it

I agree they do feel a bit token if you choose to consider that it was most certainly written in their design document that each arc needs at least one sex scene. But that aside, these scenes are definitely enough "in place" for you to be able to pull some meaning from them in regards to the story (like Emi's, explained above), and for whatever that is worth they're incredibly tastefully executed.
Not all of them are bad. Take Hanako's. You'll have the weridest feel.

Duly noted. I am not in place to judge what constitutes as a "good" or a "bad" sex scene seeing as I don't go out looking for them. I can only comment on my personal opinions regarding them.
