maybe because in some small ways I could relate, I had a lot of issues with being incredibly shy and reserved when I was younger. I'm a hell of a lot better now but I remember how bloody awful it was sometimes. I guess that made me want to help her, and seeing how she did slowly improve her confidence was pretty feel-worthy to me.

I didn't know what I was getting into when I downloaded this game, but I've slowly been seeing references to this game slowly creep into most sides of the internet. I've never really played/read any VNs before, so this was an entirely new experience for me. Although I was expecting rather vulgar sex scenes, I was pleasantly surprised at how tactful and calm these scenes were, more romantic than fapping material.
I immediately felt at home with the main character, mainly because I have a similar predicament with my own heart. While its not as [i]severe[/i] as arrhythmia, it does have some serious effects on my body. I was completely surprised and happy and how well written this VN is. It made me both laugh, and choke up, nearly crying manly tears. There has rarely been a game that has made me this emotional since Metal Gear Solid 3.
I hope you don't mind, but I want to ramble a bit.
First off, not only is the art great in this, but the characters are so well defined that it made me grow accustomed to them. I would sit through lines of reading for hours, awwing and daawing at lines or choking up. If these guys made this game and charged for it, I would buy it regardless of it being $40 or $10.
Secondly, I knew as soon as I started the game that I wanted to pursue Hanako first. I'm glad that I received the good ending...I don't think I could have handled the bad ending very well. Hanako's story left an almost permanent impression on me. Although, it seems that there is a mutual mumble about how short her arc was, and even I am left wanting more of Hanako. I rarely do fanart, especially anything from anime, but I couldn't help myself draw a little version of her. Her story lingers with me the most.
I pursued Lilly the next time through, and I thought that this was one of the more interesting arcs, mainly because Hanako was involved in it, and you could gradually see her social growth. That really made me happy, because viewing through the eyes of Hisao, I saw the parental love between Lily and Hisao for Hanako. I felt even more attached to Lilly after the last portion of the arc, and was overjoyed at the conclusion. I enjoyed it on the same level as Hanako's arc, if not more.
I worked on Shizune's arc next, but after finishing it, I felt a little bittersweet about it. It felt drawn out, the focus erratic at times. It's probably one of my least favorite, but slightly memorable arcs. The pure hectic events of her arc though really added to who she was, although, I did feel bad for not standing up to Lilly during the beginning sections.
Emi's arc left me smiling, at first I felt like a dirty man, but she grew on me. She's probably one of the characters that left me smiling and laughing the most. Her story was touching, and it did have some close notes to my own life, which made the experience even better. Her arc takes second place, as I can't really decide whether I like Hanako's arc over Lilly's arc better. So they are both my top favorites for now, with Emi's coming in second.
The next arc is Rin's arc. From what I hear, it's the next thing I'm looking forward to, mainly because I enjoy her mental jests.
