This, definitely this. I really hate being a sort-of-kind-of-martyr for the "fanfictions are not all terrible, honest!" bunch, but people are there are some good writers out there and I think they could do the series justice. Unfortunately, there are also some not so good writers, and a bunch in the middle.
Fanfiction is a slippery slope, to be honest. You can have someone take inspiration from something good, like KS, or even a fanfiction of KS they liked, and turn that inspiration sour almost immediately by having their love for the subject take the place of proper grammar and expect it to be good.
