You'd think so wouldn't you but then you end up with a bunch of threads spread out all over the place with varying degrees of activity instead of having it all in one convenient location where everyone is guaranteed to be. The point of a megathread is to have one giant spot where everything about that particular subject is discussed.

I don't see why this thread is bad. KS is currently the most popular VN, and I was just talking about Saya no Uta the other night with nobody complaining about how it wasn't specifically KS-talk in the first place. We don't really NEED a VN megathread, because it would be mostly about KS anyway, and talking about other VNs in this thread doesn't really rouse an army of angry people or anything.
Edit: and Neat! is talking about saya no uta RIGHT NOW, which kind of proves my point that it doesn't really matter if it's a VN general or a KS thread anyway, they're going to be about the same thing regardless.

That's hardly the thing I'm concerned about. I don't want to talk about other VNs in here because A) this thread is SPECIFICALLY about KS and B) I don't want to get banned for being consistently offtopic. And with a megathread that worry totally vanishes because it's impossible to be offtopic provided you talk about VN's.
Simply put there is no reason NOT to have a megathread and I find it simply ridiculous that this is an issue now because when it was first brought up everyone was gung-ho about it!
But the thing is, it's not an issue, because the thread will be [I]exactly the same[/I]. What I'm saying is that it doesn't matter if it turns into a VN thread or stays just a KS thread, because the discussion's not going to change at all. People talk about different VNs in this thread as if it [I]was[/I] a VN megathread, which I'm fine with, and everyone else is fine with.

VNs is a large enough subject to have multiple threads for.(or at least KS is large enough to have its own thread)

i think the only reason why katawa shoujo is widely accepted on a place like facepunch is because it pulled in an entirely new audience consisting of people who don't even like anime or the style in general due to its unique and eye-catching exposure. "getting to date cripples, omg you get to have sex with a crippled chick" etc and the like, everyone was like "oh god this is so weird" when they first saw it.
but then when they played it, they found it for what it really is (a very touching story about a highschool boy who gets transfered into a school for disabled students, etc) i don't think a whole lot of visual novels are going to get this sort of praise on facepunch like katawa shoujo did, its just one of those things that facepunch accepts because its not stupid fanservice kawaii desu shit. and yes, there are many VN's that aren't that, but there's not much to pull them into reading it like katawa shoujo did

There's also the issue of how many people on facepunch read VNs in the first place. Dividing all the major VNs up into multiple threads would just kill them slowly because there'll be two people talking in each one. I think we have enough to keep an actual Megathread going.
A Megathread also has the added bonus of introducing people to VNs in a more official fashion.

Why should I have to search the entire bloody section for specific VN thread when I could got to a one-stop-shop? The way it is now if [B]I[/B] want to talk about Cross Channel for example I have to go make a thread about it and hope somebody posts and considering how this discussion is going I'd be lucky if the thread lasted three days before dropping off the face of the earth. Now with a megathread If I want to talk about Cross Channel then all I have to do is make a post whenever I want and wait for a reply and if nobody reply's then it's no big deal. I can bring it up some other time. Plus it stops clogging up the forum with a bazillion tiny threads about about generally the same topic when they could all be under one roof so to speak.
