All the endings are with the festival thing, but in their own different way obviously.

It'd be funny if upon interacting with her first time, the 3rd choice would be heads-or-tails coin decision.
I got Rin the first time playing through, which is kind of funny if you see the decision tree because you can't mess up once in order to get her ending. My definite favorite of the game though was Shizune.
I have to say though, I'm glad (and surprised) this thread has gone over the way it has. It's nice to see people actually talking about the game itself.
Also if you guys haven't seen the Shimmie yet you oughta, lots of art. Some of it is NSFW though so be aware of that.

The storyline is basically window dressing to give the softcore porno a sense of legitimacy. Lonely dudes with really low standards for writing will say "it's actually got a really good story!" and everybody's happy.
I did a playthrough, took me like 3 hours. Got Emi, then I redid a few bits in skipmode and got the ending I actually wanted.
I don't like how the options you're given lead you into situations that are completely unrelated to them. You don't really have a choice in what you're doing and if you go back to redo it; it just feels fake. Since the full game will obviously be much longer, I'm not going to spend hours trying out every different ending I missed.

You don't have sex with anyone, so that's wrong. And the characters are hardly what you described, I don't have a biased view here I don't play these games.

Did you even actually play it?
Sure, it's no 'War and Peace' or 'Ivanhoe', but it's certainly not 'window dressing'. If anything, it plays [I]against[/I] the idea that "women are helpless and dependent" because the disabled characters are presented as opposite; perhaps this will change further on, but never in Act 1 is anyone like "ooh I'm blind/deaf/armless/legless/burnt/Misha, I need a strong man to help me".
The fact that Act 1 is so popular despite having nothing sexual should already prove you wrong. Hell, most of the people I know who know Katawa Shoujo - even people who are excited about the game - don't know it'll be pornographic.
I'm not trying to say it's an incredibly stellar piece of writing, I'm just trying to say that you're wrong in writing it off as window dressing for fapping material.

To be fair, the main character is also disabled, but I can easily see where you go with this idea. We can't say if the game has a good story or not because it is not released yet, and we only have a a very small demo that really goes nowhere interesting yet. I've played a few VNs and to be honest this one is pretty average. There is no real action to be expected if not for the hundreds of dialogues of what a girls likes or not and how her disabilities affects her daily life. However it's taking this game way longer than it should to be released.
The pornography is only to appeal perverted masses, anyway. Most of the Visual Novels in Japans are filled with this shit to get their game sold, if not they are completely based on it, like Monmusu quest or Yume Miru musuri (Drug that makes you dream.) Good Visual novels like Fate/stay night or Tsukihime for example have Erotic content to appeal the mass, which are only one scenes/arc in general, but the ero appears in the story at pretty stupid moments.
The only Visual Novel I've read that doesn't contain any single trace of pornography is Clannad. I've played a good amount of VNs, too.

Except the sex is completely optional and pretty much the whole game focuses on disabilities and being an equal in society, considering the player character often questions how he looks at cripples or how they fit into society, along with noting stuff like how even though everyone is "equal" some friendships can never form, as he notes, one of the girls is blind, the other deaf. They literally cancel each-other out and can never actually form that of any kind of friendship. Thus furthering the character's question of being "equal" while being crippled.
I'm a guy in a gay relationship and I thought this game's story was pretty decent so far, so I guess that kind of breaks your idea of it being for lonely dudes. (Especially considering I don't want this game's sex, I have my own boyfriend for that). I can't say I really agree with there needing to be sex scenes, but yeah.
I find it funny how at the start the main charater [sp]finds it wierd how normal all the crippled/handicapped/special needs people are, when he's the most severly crippled/handicapped/special needy (choose the option which least offends you) of them all. He can't even run without the risk of death.[/sp]

Yeah she was pretty lackluster, I didn't even realise I was getting into a relationship with her until the game suddenly ended.
Misha and Shii have an hour and a half of extra content if you do theirs though, where the other lines I've done copy a few scenes in between. Still have to do Hanako and Lilly. It feels odd that this game will eventually become an eroge, it just feels so complete right now.
I tried again and got the Lilly ending (yay!), word of advice if you don't want Rin or Emi don't say yes to the nurse.
