BF2 was better as some things (not having glare) BF3 is better at other things.

Ahhh, just had some of the best games I've played.
Felt like playing rush, and there's not much variety in servers in Australia at this time of day, so I hop into one with 2 players already in it. It ends up that I'm defending against these two guys, and I know from the start I'm not going to be able to WIN the game so I just decide to fuck with them. Support, armed with MP7 and Claymores. Begin.
It was a very strategic battle. They learned early that running onto the point was stupid, as I always had claymores set up. So they started nading the point to clear the claymores, only then, I'd flank them and shoot them. Their strategies changed, and mine changed to combat it. In they came with the AMTRAC, so I stole a tank. They tried heaps of things, stealing the tank, trying to C4 me while the other player was a decoy, and suicide C4 Jeeps.
Meanwhile, I'm about 20-2 and adrenaline is pumping hard.
Get to the final stage and it gets tense.
They beat me there, so I run up the steps to that last station, shoot them both, and defuse. Set up a claymore, and wait. They come with Amtrac and Tank, I hide, guy jumps out of tank, I jump in. Fuck up amtrac, fuck up other guy, and now I have a tank. While I'm driving backwards trying to hide in the bushes, they snuck back in and ran up the stairs. Blam, double claymore kill. At this point I was giggling like a school girl. I stayed hidden in the bushes with my Guided Shell equipped... See the AMTRAC coming again before it sees me, fuck it up and kill them both again. A few more attemps to creep into the point to avoid my sight and my claymores, assualt with amtrac, decoy + C4. Eventually, I had to hop out of the tank to defuse the station. They were both dead, but I knew their mobile spawn point in the AMTRAC was nearby. I defuse the bomb just in time for one of them to hop into the tank and shoot me, I actually thought I didn't make it in time, it was that close. But I did.
Unfortunately they planted again straight away and I couldn't get back to it in time.
So, after going 30-5, got at least 5 nemesis ribbons, MVP, I'm giggling like a school girl and pumping with adrenaline. Probably the fact that I haven't slept in about 30 hours, but it was awesome fun.
And for all that, my skill level went up 3.5 points. What.

BF2 only has a content advantage.
This game and I have a love hate relationship. Some rounds I'll do incredibly well, garnering many more kills than deaths, taking out vehicles, wiping squads, and having a blast laying waste to the enemy and helping out the team at various objectives with all sorts of vehicles.
And then other games I can't kill a single enemy even if I get the drop on them every time and get spawnraped by helicopters that nobody on our team bothers to fire AA missiles at or even try to paint with a SOFLAM.

I drop so much ammo I end up killed because of it..

Rush through the street fire.
Spawn on squad mates. Press "3" .2 sec after spawn*.
Heavy fire, drop ammo all the time, enemy comes while you're dropping ammo.
*Got me killed so many times it's ridiculous.
I play support largely because ammoing people up is a simple task, just dump a bag and move on. Plus it feels really cool to sit in prone, or behind cover, with your bipod deployed, but not actually looking down your sight. Kind of like you are an actual squad in place defending a position.
Just sit there, with a few other supports in formation, leaning back from your scope for a while as you wait for your team to fall back. Then, ohhh, then the fun begins as you rain hell on the enemy.

I don't think I ever actually killed many people with small arms in BF2 as the hit detection was fucking horrible, and it just felt bad to shoot after playing more modern shooters.

Exactly this. I have to jump around in front of them firing my weapon at them to grab their attention. Even then that doesn't work sometimes.

That said, BF2 has better vehicle combat (no stupid perk shit) whereas BF3 has far better infantry combat. So, disregarding mods I would have to say BF3 is overall better.

Recon, the quest to find level ground to put my shit on.
I was just playing a round of Rush as Recon. Defending on Karkand, second set of M-Coms. I went prone and deployed my MAV, and proceeded to fly around near chokepoints, spotting enemies, vehicles, disabling stuff, getting loadsa points and assists.
After about 1-2 minutes, I get kicked. Reason: "camping sniper".
Welp.

The other day I was playing Kharg Island with a friend, decide to take the scout helicopter and he got in the passenger slot. I take him over to where someone spotted a recon motion sensor.
Sure enough, 3 snipers. Instead of mowing them down with the chaingun I moved to the side and gave my friend some shots.
It was like a wookie safari hunt :v:
