Is there some sort of secret to not getting on garbage teams?
I literally NEVER win anything and I'm always on the team that loses all the bases in like 5 minutes flat no matter what server I join.
Join servers that are missing 3 / 5 players, never join one thats missing 1 player cause they are almost always rolls, it's not fool proof but if you get on a server just starting up and help to populate it then the games can be quiet fun, for a few rounds at least, but the stackers will arrive and ruin everything at some point.
Other things that i do upon joining before clicking that spawn button
Tab and check the ranks on both teams, it is a flawed check i know, but invaribly the team with the more Colonel's wins. Check the number of same clan members on a single team, it only takes a squad full most of the time to win a game so keep an eye on that, also check the scores and k/d ratio as well to get more of an understanding.
Look at the map, see how many flags you own / how many Mcom stations are left as well as the tickets left, a team floudnering on stage 1 of rush with 25 tickets left having not got close to either station will more than likely loose.
Where your team actually are on the map, if they areAll gathered around the same area and none of them are at least watching the other flanks then it shows a lack of tactical awareness of the whole team. If the vast majority of them are Skull and bones on the deck then they are most likely cannon fodder, If there is hardly any red triangles on the map it shows that your team are not spotting enemies.
Then lastly check the squads tab, If there are players in squads, there is room to join and they have squad perks then have a look at the class they are rolling and the perks they have, 3x More ammo and all of them snipers says a whole lot about what they'll be acheiving in the game. and as a rule of thumb (for me anyway) anything more than "3 Players not in a squad" mostly means that the team is destined to loose.
Takes about 30 seconds to work out now if a team stands a chance of winning, if there isn't even a remote chance dont stick around, leave and find another server dont click spawn and you wont have any record of ever being on the server so if you care about your stats they won't be touched.
Be patient enough to switch teams as soon as possible, that's always been my Battlefield Strategy
Not that i can really blame you, but that really does not help the game in the slightest
I just came off a few games on a random server where I had brilliant squad mates, and the fun was multiplied by 10. I'm usually annoyed if my team loses, and we lost those rounds but I couldn't have cared less because of how much fun we were having. I was squad leader, I gave attack/defend orders, and they followed.
One of the guys, our medic, was only rank 9 and he was more what I consider skilled than most of the players I come across on my team.
2000 Ticket server.
...
Loose 1300 to 0.
...
Am I the only one who didn't fly helicopters until I had flares, it is so annoying when Im riding passenger and the pilot doesn't even have flares, then jumps out right at the end.

You make a fine example of when I don't mind losing and where I still have fun.
I've had a squad like that a couple of times, and nothing has beaten these moments yet. I wish it happened more often. So fun to play when your squad works together.
I played with my pal on PS3. Needless to say, it's much more fun with friends. We trolled tanks with a car then went support-engineer. He drove (Support), and as enginner I kept firing through the front with the javelin.
Took down a few tanks. If I would've played with pugs I'd only run around firing at lone targets.
I have 4GB and run just fine
Granted I don't do standard AA (just post), and my textures aren't maxed, but I can't really tell.
If you have AA enabled plus a high resolution you need a LOT of ram for BF3, because it basically needs to have the whole scene/frame in memory by how many times you have the AA set to.
It's not that the game uses 4 or even 3 gb of ram. Because it doesn't. But Windows starts writing to pagefile already when 2/3rds of your RAM is in use. That's like all the time with 4 GB RAM. That's why i upgraded. Alt-Tab became a chore in games with larger memory footprints.
That feel when you're waiting in queue for 5 minutes, queue doesn't move at all.
Suddenly, 10 free slots. YEAH, NOPE. People rage quitting.
Better how? I prefer the M98B personally, but the M40A5 has more rounds.
If you're a good sniper, the m40 would be better since it's always one hit kill with headshots.
M98b looks like it's out of Crysis 2 or something, that's why I prefer the Marine Corp's M40A5, looks so much better and like you said has more rounds. But importantly the looks of the rifle are much better.
Then straight pull bolt obviously and the 7x Scope is basically enough for all ranges from 700 meter down to a hundred or less.
Ugh, I hate rage quitters so much.

The leave, make shit even more imbalanced then bitch about imbalance and horrible teams when they join other servers.

Wow.
For some reason my FPS increased dramatically today. Smooth 70 FPS.
Why aren't there tracers in this game?
Is below the radar unlock a passive ability? I have unlocked it but I can't seem to equip it.
Why aren't there tracers in this game?
They got replaced by laser designators.

Yes, fly very low (almost sliding on the ground) and it will work.

I mean tracers as in tracer rounds for the weapons. It is very un-realistic that the weapons don't fire them.

You know most weapons don't actually use tracer as standard right? It's usually only machine guns and squad support weapons and it's like every 4th round in the belt.
Practically every round in Battlefield 3 I find looks like a tracer, albeit without colouring.
Usually for NATO weapons its green too, most games always seem to make them orange.
Not sure if that applies to Russian weapons.

No, NATO standard tracer rounds are red. Non-NATO are usually the green ones.
And yes I was talking about weapons that actually use tracers. Like the M16, whenever we did our live fire exercises at boot camp, they always put tracers in our M16 magazines.

I'd assume that was to show you how to correct your aim was it not?
I'd assume that was to show you how to correct your aim was it not?
.
Nah, we were using them because they told us it was standard during war time. We didn't even use tracers when we were just shooting our rifles, or just doing an exercise.

Tip for everyone:
Get friends that play BF3 well, and only play with a friend
I refuse to enter pub servers "solo" in BF3.. You cant really trust the average joe players.
I was playing the other day on Rush, broke through with my squad of 3 randoms, got behind the enemy, I killed about 4 or 5 enemies, the 1 left, spins around, kills my 3 squad mates..
Your friends don't even have to be that good if you talk over TeamSpeak, just having that communication gives you the upper hand

I made some good friends over a random server i joined. They only play on this server, as me now, and we team up perfectly. We communicate well like "i need a gunner"-"Pick me up at A"-"In a second."
It's really fun playing like this.
Why aren't there tracers in this game?
Because tracer darts are stupid and neither RPGs or CGs fire seeking rounds in real life.
I miss the AT4 from BC2.
Even if it was incredibly OP at taking out vehicles... I miss it. Would have preferred it over the javelin.
Yeah an user-guided missile launcher like the SRAW would be fun in bf3.

I also miss the ability of shooting down friendly choppers from BC2. Just so much fun sitting back in a tank on Heavy Metal, watching a friendly black hawk/apache take off, shoot it and then it just lands on it's rotor :v:
Yeah I wonder why they removed that.
There's not enough launchers anyway.
I feel like making an awesome jet video with awesome music, even though I'm not that good with jets.
I just love the RPG-7. Javelin sucks balls, with all the locking on.
