That was up in the lobby right?
So Ep3 is really coming... and soon from the looks of it... woah.
Didn't we say that when we saw Ep3 stuff in the Alien Swarm SDK?
Coming next year, FUCKING NOTHING. Man, does valve realize that we rather have EP3 than this other crap, yea, its good, but I rather have EP3 by now.
When I asked if you guys were ready to lose your shit, I was being very sarcastic. There is no need to actually lose your shit here.
When I asked if you guys were ready to lose your shit, I was being very sarcastic. There is no need to actually lose your shit here.
And do you got anything to back that up? (although, being able to chuck literal shit at the enemy via the gravity gun would be awesome) I got to say though, mysterious code alone is better then know knowing anything at all. I would assume if they did not want us to know, the code would be kept hidden. This has to indicates they have made progress. They just don't want us to see it. They also don't want the public to know that HL3 or Episode Three will be running on a password protected server out in the open, but simply disguised, so you won't know its really the next match-making Half-Life server. Then again, maybe DOTA 2 buyers get to play a limited beta of HL3/Ep3, but even after the demo goes live, you don't see the rest of the game for a while.

SOB - Search Of Borealis
Hopefully that's whatever that "sob" game is
Game's called Son of a Bitch, it's the sequel to fart cops.
new weapons in hl3 make me explode in cum and pleasure. im tired of the same old butts in hl1 and hl2.
The new weapons could be Aperture science weapons. The Borealis could have been somesort of Battleship, it had turrets.
The new weapons could be Aperture science weapons. The Borealis was a Battleship, or atleast had turrets.
Borealis was a research icebreaker, at least by all external appearances, which are referenced from the USCGC Healy, Polar Star or Polar Sea which are based in Seattle. The blueprints do not match and are those of a cruiser, the CA-148, they are not those of the Borealis and were not meant for heavy study. By battleship i just meant it could have been some sort of Combat vessel disguised as/instead of just a research ship. The blueprints are actually seen ingame. It's Aperture science, nothing is as it seems. They wouldn't have used blueprints for something that CLEARLY has guns if they didn't want to suggest the Borealis had them.
By battleship i just meant it could have been some sort of Combat vessel disguised as/instead of just a research ship.
then why didn't you say so c: I still don't see why they would have a battleship though. Then again, like you said, it's Aperture. At first glance one wouldn't see why a research company would mass-produce and immediately disassemble turrets, for instance, so this doesn't seem as unlikely now I think it over again. Sorry for laughing at you :v:

...holy crap that actually makes sense because it doesn't make any hence typically Aperture

I said they "were not meant for heavy study". They were not made for us to look into them deeply, they were meant to add to the atmosphere. This is clearly not a battleship. And Aperture are not the sort of company to go around disguising warships. Not to mention the schematics seen in game do not match the configuration of the Borealis.

We have not seen anything of the Borealis other then a few pictures from the side and the blueprints. The blueprints clearly have guns, and Valve would not have used that if they didn't want it to have guns. By Battleship i did not mean a literal Battleship, just a ship built for combat of some sort. Whatever was on the Borealis is obviously extremely powerful or important.
Perhaps the turrets were there merely as a sort of defense mechanism?

It's got emancipation grids and a GLaDOS unit. It's likely got prefabrication facilities also. It also teleported out of a salt mine, the dry dock being underground. It's a plot point you can debate all day long, but ultimately by all appearances it is an icebreaker both in game and in concept art. Only valve can confirm or debunk it.

A ship that is an icebreaker can obviously teleport and needs an AI onboard, Emancipation grids, Unstationary scaffords and a variety of turrets and other defenses. Just because it looks like an icebreaker, does not mean it has to be one. It's Aperture science, it being what it is described as would not be right for them.
It's Aperture science, it being what it is described as would not be right for them.
You should take the Portal series with a grain of salt. Large portions of it are there for entertainment and not for enhancing the Half-Life Universe.
Does not take away the fact that Aperture just is that wacky. No matter how silly the company is, it's still part of HL canon.
You should take the Portal series with a grain of salt. Large portions of it are there for entertainment and not for enhancing the Half-Life Universe.
It's both really. Everything that happens in Portal is part of Aperture and the Half life Universe. Cave Johnson was not a scientist. He had an attitude of "science isn't about why, it's about why not" and without that attitude they would not have had things such as GLaDOS, Emancipation Grids, Excursion Funnels and things like that. The stuff had thought of WAS crazy, but if it was worked that then would have been irrelevent. All of their technology is able to be used safely, provided you take the right protective measures. They came up with stuff no one else did because of their disregard for safety and in that sense were more successful then Black Mesa (which is ironic really).

Erik Wolpaw: They both take place in the same universe, although we think of Portal as taking place in Aperture Science, which is this absurd bubble buried in the ground where anything goes, to a certain extent. Internally we think of it it, if it's the X-Files, Half-Life is the meta, ongoing story and Portal games are the self-contained, funny, absurd episodes.
