letting him carry around Medkits
eugh no that just takes away the whole rush of being in an intense battle and rushing your way to the nearest medkit
some of the best moments in HL2 were sneaking around Nova Prospekt on hardest with 1 hit worth of health left trying to find the nearest healthkit
Well, if they do do a promo for Episode 3, which is likely judging from their previous activities, a Rebel Beanie would be a likely choice of hat, though an HEV Suit would also be a wonderful Misc to wear (multiple sizes for larger characters). A Crowbar would also be important, even if it's just a reskin of the Default Melee Weapon. (Shovel, Axe, Bottle, Fists, Bonesaw, Kook) Still, I hope they have some real fancy gameplay in Episode 3. Four years and not too much info makes Gordon a dull boy. Still, they shouldn't slap regenerating health on Doctor Freeman, but they SHOULD consider letting him carry around Medkits and Batteries for when he needs them (would regenerating energy for his suit armour be bad, though?). Also, he should still be able to carry plenty of weapons like he did before, and the game should have new weapons to fight with.
I think an HEV suit would be over the top. A full-body 'hat' would make it harder to identify classes on sight. And the popularity of it would mean we'd now be playing HEVFortress 2

Hey, I just thought of something. Gordon doesn't wear the helmet of his HEV suit, so I wonder where it wound up?

I dunno, but mebbe someone took the helmet for some reason, repairs, ect?
Am I the only one who thinks it would be hilarious to see the Heavy in a busted open HEV suit? Like he tried to get into one but it's too small?

I predict promo hats and consolitis if it's ever released
I predict promo hats and consolitis if it's ever released
Promo hats sure, but consolitis? In a Half-life game? Edit: Unless you mean promo hats to be used in episode 3 itself, in which case I sincerely doubt it.

Valve's changed a lot since 2007
L4d and Portal 2 suffered from consolitis, so I expect all future games to aswell. Valve's changed a lot since 2007
Explain what you mean by consolized. I mean, Portal 2 did have the portal placement assistance, but that was actually kind of helpful anyway. I've heard people complain about L4D's menu system being consolized, but I haven't had any problems with that, and outside of that both games still have all the features you'd expect a PC game to have, so I guess I don't quite get what you mean.

You are also unable to select specific servers, and have to rely on the game auto-selecting a random one to get onto a server you might have had in mind, making even finding a game a nightmare. As for portal 2, it seems to lack a lot of graphics options like color correction, bloom, specific texture group quality and a few others I think. Also the arrows are difficult to click while browsing the menus, leading me to believe that they designed the menus to be navigated on a controller.
I would like to see a bit in episode 3/Half life 3 whatever the fuck it is where you drive an old t-80 that you found while exploring the arctic. It would be even better if you got to drive it through some old combine base. Crash through the wall of an old concrete building and roam the halls while running over combine soldiers with a tank.
How did Portal 2 suffer from "consolitis"
Holy crap that not-toggleable portal funneling. Probably the only thing in that whole game that made me rage.
Holy crap that not-toggleable portal funneling. Probably the only thing in that whole game that made me rage.
you can turn it off i also don't see how something that helps you makes you rage
you can turn it off i also don't see how something that helps you makes you rage
False, in Portal 2 you cannot turn off portal funneling without using the developer console. The only time it made me rage was when I played the game for the first time, on a PS3. Suprisingly, I barely noticed it on the PC.
False, in Portal 2 you cannot turn off portal funneling without using the developer console.
You didn't really specify that
You didn't really specify that
My bad. Also, 2,000 posts.
Headcrab hat > All
posted that like 200 times
You gotta remember to photoshop the white spaces on the headcrab
Select > Modify > Contract > 1px
Select > Modify > Contract > 1px
Doesn't always work. But the theory is there, yes.
You gotta remember to photoshop the white spaces on the headcrab
Also, Lamarr is a she! EDIT: Although how can you tell the gender of a headcrab anyway? lol
Select > Modify > Contract > 1px
Even better: Layer > Matting > then your choice of "Remove White Matte" or "Defringe"
I want the game play/graphics of Episode 2 (enhanced a bit wouldn't hurt) so that all the episodes have a similar feel, and seem more like one game. But at the same time, after 4+ years of development, I want/expect a major overhaul of the game. It just wouldn't feel as continuous of a game/story with everything majorly upgraded. Like I've said before, Valve picked a strange point in the series to upgrade. That is, if that is what they are doing.
Now you say that, my money is on Half Life 3.
Doesn't always work. But the theory is there, yes.
There's no possible way for that not to work.
There's no possible way for that not to work.
There is.
