The room breaking apart was animated dynamic props, not Havok. Current gen consoles are weaker than PCs were in 2004. You sound like you need to seriously educate yourself before arguing this topic.
The room breaking apart was physics objects and a shitload of constraints. Learn to developer commentary
I want to hear your side of the argument, you seem to disagree with me, I'm curious.
I'm not disagreeing. I'm just hoping that you're not being serious. Because it's fucking stupid.
I'm not disagreeing. I'm just hoping that you're not being serious. Because it's fucking stupid.
So you agree with what I'm saying but think it's stupid? I'm confused
So you agree with what I'm saying but think it's stupid? I'm confused
So if someone doesn't disagree, they have to agree? No such thing as a neutral party? Alright then, that shows a lot about you.
no physics objects (would cause consoles to explode) low resolution textures shoddy menu navigation lacks various graphics options Uses a shader which is practically exclusive to PS3/360 (it makes everything have an ugly shiny plastic look) lacks anything you would expect a 2011 PC title to bring Add them all up and you have a very potent console odor. Don't get me wrong it was a great game, but it could have been a LOT better if it wasn't consolized at birth.
At first I thought you were kidding but you're just really dumb. No physics objects? Entity limit. Not do to with consoles whatsoever. Low resolution textures? Shoddy menu navigation? I get the sense you're just whining because it's different from Half-Life 2. Lacks various graphics options? Hmm, every single option in the past games are there in Portal 2. If they aren't, they're done through console. Uses a shader etc...? That's bullshit. Lacks anything you would expect a 2011 PC title to bring? A great story, great graphics, great gameplay, a singleplayer mode that is as equal of importance to multiplayer, great voiceacting, good humour, no bugs at all. You're an idiot.
found this on matt charlesworths blog (3d artist at valve). "random old fella", he claims. :v:
The filename is oldMan.jpg, the capitalized M could suggest it was, at some point G-Man.jpg
The room breaking apart made me lag like shit. Maybe it was all the rubble from it? Anyway- portal 2 doesnt push a console. it pushes my pc. Although strangely the lighting looks better on the xbox than it does the pc. iv got a gt 220 and i get playable framerates on high settings. A 220 is shit. Valve wants people on the console on steam. SO while it may make a game or too for the console kids, it's realy planning to steal them and put them on the computer What id like to see valve do with episode 3 Simple main menu like all the other half lifes and the earlier multilayer games. Nothing like tf2/l4d2/portal 2 Post dota 2 version of source. Some of the source film maker updates would be good too. Updated models and effects to take advantage of source. For example Combine energy balls giving off dynamic light. Characters having lots of body groups, skingroups and odd shaders that you don't see so many clones Better gibs like in l4d2. (toned down to realism) contextual ragdol/death animation blending V_models and W_models being the same and your hands matching your character. Like in l4d/l4d2. Clever tricks that keep filesize down like colour shaders on brush textures. Detail textures on most things and so on Decent looking armpits and bums. every other game stretches them horribly
The room breaking apart made me lag like shit. Maybe it was all the rubble from it?
Strange, I have a HD 5450 and an E3300 and I was fine.
^ considerably more powerfull than what i have.
^ considerably more powerfull than what i have.
Whatever processor you have, it's still probably better than an E3300.
The filename is oldMan.jpg, the capitalized M could suggest it was, at some point G-Man.jpg
Or possibly an older version of the G-Man? Considering how long it's been since Episode 2, it would only make sense that he's gained four to five years of age on him :v:
He doesn't age.
Better gibs like in l4d2. (toned down to realism) V_models and W_models being the same and your hands matching your character. Like in l4d/l4d2.
I get the feeling you've never played Half-Life 2.
He doesn't age.
I dunno, he looks a little younger in HL1 to me. He might age in body, but not in mind.
I dunno, he looks a little younger in HL1 to me. He might age in body, but not in mind.
I don't know if you can actually make that deduction, given the graphics of HL1... The only thing you can go by is his hair color.
The filename is oldMan.jpg, the capitalized M could suggest it was, at some point G-Man.jpg
In programming, you always name files like that cause you can't put spaces in file names.
In programming, you always name files like that cause you can't put spaces in file names.
What about hyphens or underscores?
the head just looks like practice, since he is a character modeler at valve
At first I thought you were kidding but you're just really dumb. No physics objects? Entity limit. Not do to with consoles whatsoever.
Did they lower the entity limit for Portal 2 then? It seems like when I play HL2 there's random shit you can pick up lying everywhere, but in P2 everything's static. Not to argue that P2 is somehow less of a game, but it's still kind of weird.
What about hyphens or underscores?
you use them as you would hyphens and underscores in anything else
Did they lower the entity limit for Portal 2 then? It seems like when I play HL2 there's random shit you can pick up lying everywhere, but in P2 everything's static. Portal/2 is their chance to say 'Look at our Portals!'
The reason valve has been silent on Ep3 is because they don't make PC games anymore and haven't since 2007. Episode three would have to be a game built around the PC in order to perform and sell properly. Timeline: October, 2007: The Orange Box (Valve's last pc games) November, 2008: Left 4 Dead (Developed for consoles, ported to PC) November, 2009: Left 4 Dead 2 (Developed for consoles, ported to PC) April, 2011: Portal 2 (Developed for consoles, ported to PC) Q1, 2012: CS:GO (Being developed for consoles, will be ported to PC) Excluding of course Dota 2, which is a side project that a couple of devs are doing mainly for a hobby, and couldn't be played on a controller anyway. In short: Don't expect a Half-Life continuation for a very, very long time, and if it ever does peak over the horizon, know what to expect.
What? No no no no no. Your getting it ALL wrong. Valve has started porting there work to consoles. But they still develop mainly for PC. What they HAVE done is taken more interest in the console market (namely the PS3).
Don't feed the troll.
What's this!? He posted his opinion!?! Obvious troll, everyone ignore him! Report report! It's obviously a troll!
Opinions can be wrong.
I agree with what you are trying to say... But your argument is terrible.
