:) i play hl2/dm since 2005.
the thing i say is that you guys are still thinking that youre important to valve/steam and thats not the case. the few hardcore fans are not enough to make a new episode and earn big money with it. i even think valve will go porting his engine/platform to make it running and tablet's/phones and will be stopping on the console market or only take a small rol in it.
believe me there will be no news about ep3 on any show there will be.
How many people with steam do you think wouldn't buy the next half life game? I don't have statistics, but I'm willing to bet that the vast majority of steam users would be willing to buy it...
...and steam is huge.
See, there's more people into half life than a handful of "hardcore fans" as you put it. Additionally, the last package involving HL2 only came out 4 years ago. I highly doubt that enough gamers started playing in the past 4 years for ALL OF THE GAMERS PLAYING BEFORE THAT to become a fringe minority, and that's assuming that none of the gamers that have picked up a controller since have touched the orange box. Considering how big a deal the orange box has been to the gaming community that's highly doubtful.

Jigs up pal, your an obvious troll. The whole tablet bit spawned a few laughs though, i will admit.
That's it. Seems like Valve is going to keep completely silent on this matter, and the VGAs are this Saturday. I think/hope that this actually was the start of their PR Marketing for the game.
Also, this may be nothing but, Geoff Keighley retweeted the tweet of the shirt that started all this, and his twitter account is basically all VGAs, as he's basically the main representative for it.
Not getting my hopes up, still gonna watch the VGAs because it's boss.

And he's also known for being an insider at Valve, he has been documenting Portal 2 development ever since it started. Might be the same for HL2:EP3.

wow man are you like some sort of hater towards us?
You're weird, you don't have any idea what you're missing.
You dont mean the spike tv VGA's do you?
Those ones are a fucking joke.

Most people just watch the show for the trailers, and I think that they know it, otherwise they might have at least made an attempt to improve the painfully atrocious writing for the actual show itself.
Just one man, in the middle of an empty warehouse, with a single desk, computer, and office chair. A fridge on one side of the warehouse, a bathroom on the other. Unable to leave, he works night and day under the reign of a madman, who is hailed as one of the best minds of our time.
That is who is making episode 3.
Apparantly this is in the latest issue of PC Gamer. Anyone know if it's true?

This makes me think of these weaponiser tokens that got secretly got patched in a text file in TF2's gcf.

Fucking Christ I just hope to god they'll pump the game's graphics up to today's standards - hopefully even raising them. I really wouldn't mind the viewmodels in an angle like Cod's viewmodels, because if there's anything I have to admit about Cod it's that the gunplay is pretty exceptionally fun.

Laszlo?
Poor Laszlo...
The finest mind of his generation.
My theory (which is probably common one) is the reason valve is taking so long is they're improving Tech, plus improving models
Compare L4D1,2 Portal 2 CS:GO models to HL2 and the episodes. The models look bad against some of the models/textures of the games I mentioned before.

Sounds like the synopsis of a thriller.
Young Laszlo, doomed to an eternity of programming games under the watch of a knife-collecting psychopath, decides he will no longer be his slave, his tool. He must find a way to escape this nightmarish warehouse if he ever wants to taste freedom again...

Explains why it's taking so long.

I really hope there's gonna be an even more improved engine; source 2011 sounds neat.
I just hope to hell they're gonna make this a release they've never had before. Valve built a pretty solid fanbase already and they can make that even bigger. I particularly enjoyed HL2's atmosphere; it's apocalyptic and gritty but still unlike any other apocalyptic and gritty game out there.
Am I a terrible person if I liked HL1's atmosphere more than HL2's?
[editline]7th December 2011[/editline]
Don't get me wrong, I obviously love both of those games.

They both have very different atmospheres, half life 1 is more of an "all-for-one" kind of way.
Whereas half life 2 is a revolution, where you have people to help you.

Oh, right. *smacks self* Yeah, that seems PRETTY huge. Geoff Keighley's in on it, almost no doubt now.
I'm almost completely sure that this is leading up to a big reveal at the VGAs now.

Hell, the way I see it, we should just watch the VGAs as a source of usual entertainment, not expect anything, so if it DOES happen we can all fall out of our seats and jizz our pants.
It's no fun putting your load out there if surprise isn't involved! :v:

How/Where can one watch the VGAs? Is it televised?
There's a stream on their site on December 10th (probably, there was last year).
we should just watch the VGAs as a source of usual entertainment
The VGAs are far from entertainment. The only thing good that comes from them are new teasers and trailers, and those always get posted online within hours.

we can pretend to be entertained
If a new Half Life installment does get revealed at the VGAs, Epic games are going to be soooo pissssed.
