I just realised, in that time between Episode 2 and now, Portal was released, the development of Portal 2 was started, and delayed and then released and still no Episode 3.
And even further than that, Left 4 Dead was started, then released and Left 4 Dead was started and then released.
And don't forget about DOTA, CSGO and Alien Swarm.
It actually wouldn't surprise me if Chell is in it.

Yep, plus to the people dreaming of having the Portal gun in 3 can keep dreaming. It wouldn't make any sense AT ALL to have it in the game. (plus the fact that it was designed to only form portals on moon rock covered surfaces, and why would they put those in the Borealis or anywhere around if the Borealis itself is a giant portal experiment

No it was not. If it was only designed to work on those surfaces then it wouldn't work on the majority of Aperture's old areas, or the maintenance ones.
Aperture will not just be a cameo. It will have a large role in the episode 3, as that is the whole point of the Borealis - it has some sort of powerful technology created by Aperture. Aperture did more then just experiment with portals.

By the way, I'm pretty sure Valve will release another Raising the Bar book with lots of stuff uncovered about development of the game and release date delays.
You know when there is something up with episode 3 when you see atleast 200+ posts, provided you check at least say once a week/2 weeks

I think it just needs a flat surface that conducts portals well, and lunar regolith just so happens to be good at that, but some metals and paints also contain substances that help them make decent portal conductors..

From what I've seen, I think the Portal needs a consistently rough surface to be able to sustain itself, which would explain why concrete, wallpaper and moonrocks can hold a portal, but metal and glass can't.
