I meant "essentially" as in "story-wise." Like someone else previously stated, the stories of the Half-Life games have come in arcs. Half-Life 1 and it's expansions were the Black Mesa story arc. Half-Life 2 and the episodes would be the City 17 / Resistance story arc. Half-Life 3 would most likely be an entirely new story arc that will pick up where Episode 3 ends.

Well then, if HL2 and its episodes are considered "story-wise" the second arc, there's no point in calling the episodes HL3.

Perhaps, if Episode 3 is on a heavily updated version of source, they're taking the time to get it to work with Half Life 2 and the other episodes, and updated models/textures.

I'm guessing why it takes so long is because they're VERY HOPEFULLY reworking Source's codes. I really hope to death I'm right.

Geoff Keihgley has now said on twitter there will be no DarkSiders 2. So he has now said 3 games which will not be shown, but he still won't reply about HL3/EP3 being at the VGA.

I think this is all planned by Valve. If they wanted to build hype, they would release some sort of teaser like the shirt - but if they just releaseed itthemselves, there would be little doubt if itwas a real picture or not.

So instead, they got a fairly well known, trustable person who they work closely with to release the picture. It's the sort of thing Valve would do.

God damn it I've never been this excited for the VGAs before. I'm rather optimistic about this, I think we are finally going to hear about the next half life. On a side note, it's taken a lot of effort to work up the optimism to actually think HL3 is coming, and as a result there are rainbows flying out my ass :(
