They won't show Half Life 2: Episode 3 at Spike's VGAs. There, now I can laugh at everyone when it turns out that it doesn't get announced. And then probably cry, but that's beside the point. [editline]December 11, 2011[/editline] D'hoh look, I was right. Now to build myself a fort out of these lovely boxes.

If you're in the UK, like much of FP, the VGAs will be streaming on Ginx.tv.

So while I was on the Spike website looking at details for VGA, I decided while I was there, to look at some other stuff that I usually check. But then... [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/mxngR.png[/thumb] :tinfoil:

Speaking of VGA, does anyone happen to know if anyone/any site will be streaming it? I'm not in the US or UK so I can't watch the ones with the completely dumb country restrictions

Rate me boxes, but what time in Holland will the VGAs begin?
Rate me boxes, but what time in Holland will the VGAs begin?
If it helps at all, in the UK it starts at Monday (technically Tuesday) 1AM.
If it helps at all, in the UK it starts at Monday (technically Tuesday) 1AM.
Wait, I thought the VGAs were on the 10th (technically on the 11th cause they're at 1AM but still you're confusin me)
I think for EU it's in the night of Saturday -> Sunday, right? EDIT: Yeah, watching a stream of Spike TV and it says "Tomorrow".
If I calculated it right it starts in ~25 hours?
Something like that. I CANT WAIT.
I hope if Valve really decides to start the real hyping for Episode 3, they'll do it slowly and it a... kinda-cryptic fashion. Like with the shirt. I don't know if it's true, but if it is, I'd be pretty happy. Valve definitely has an idea about how the communities tick, they are, due to their relationship with modders, rather directly in touch with their fanbase and they know that they can get a lot of people talking by only dropping tiny bits of information. So for example Gabe holds a speech and only for a split second there's a freeze frame of a surprisingly angry G-Man, or even him with wounds or blood on his face, something to get the discussions rolling. It would only be discovered by accident, first people would think it's shopped in, then more and more independent sources would re-evaluate the material and confirm. Or in a single city very convincing hired Combine Soldier cosplayers are either just walking on patrol or make it look like they're chasing someone or something, and when walked up to they give citizens the order "to apply for city 18" or pretty much any order that would require them to hand out a pamphlet. This pamphlet doesn't directly state anything about the game however, it's written in something like "Combine code" you'd need to decipher first, which will be a huge task the community has to come together for, leading to even more discussions in the forums. Or maybe write the sheet with invisible ink. Anything that would give the community a little challenge and make them play a little "game before the game". Or make a seemingly unimportant Steam update, like with a small Christmas jingle on startup, but give some random users (that have the final HL2Ep2 achievement or something) a special soundfile that will play the jingle, then there'll be 30 minutes of silence, then it ends with a single line from G-Man, just something simply like "Waaake up, Mister Freeeman..." You get the idea. Something cryptic or slightly scary, only tidbits of information that could slowly build up something big and would get the core communities talking and warm up the editorials before the official announcements roll in. Ideally, all this would lead to a number that could be translated into a certain date. So everyone and their cat and their cat's squeeky toy would be hyped as hell on that date as it coincides with an event where Valve is supposed to speak to be public, like an interview or an expo or a convention, something like that. However, nothing happens. Valve will cancel their visit or say nothing at all about Ep3 or the connected rumors as usually. All that hype for nothing? The cynical voices get louder and more and more arguments for why everything so far were just fakes, pranks and copycats that jumped on the bandwagon. Then, when the community reaches its "darkest hour", after a couple of days, Valve will laugh and apologize and say it wouldn't be a true Valve game without some kind of delay. Then the official show would start and the fandom would rejoice. (I'd still like them to keep the content as much in the dark as possible - not the best mainstream marketing, but I hate having to dodge spoilers for something huge as this, even little ones like what new types of grunts we'll face) TL;DR I hope their hype campaign will start out very slow and cryptic, something to decode that forces the different communities to work together. The internet would be all over it, and hyped people are the best mouth-to-mouth advertisement campaigns.
I think Valve will make another ARG that will lead to the announcment. That will be epic :O
ARG's feel more like a portal-thing.
I'm sure there'll be a restream of some sorts.
But I want to watch it live if Valve will be in it :(
I'm really worried that all of this hype that everyone is building up will just let everyone down again. That much negative energy released all at once could be enough to open a portal to hell which in turn could release the dark lord himself
Hey everyone, remember when we were so sure something related to the Portal 2 ARG was going to be shown on GameTrailersTV? Yeah...

Im being torn apart by this shit. I want to believe that the next half life game will be announced at the VGA's, but i just know in my gut that it wont be. I really don't want to be disappointed, but I'm incredibly anxious at the same damn time.
If we all stay pessimistic about it it will: A. Not be released and we won't be disappointed. B. Be released and we can party like it's 2004 again.
