Studio of the year = Bethesda. Wtf? They release a game every 4 years and it's riddled with bugs (though yes, they are fucking amazing) but still. So much better studios that earned that. Like Naughty Dog. Or Valve.

Now for us to say nasty things about X Y and Z games being the reason that Gabe didn't show, cling on to those last bits of hope for something regarding Half-Life 2: Episode 3/Half-Life 3 just to find out that everything potentially leading up to it is a red herring, then go back to attempting not to think about the game until the next convention comes up and we all get excited again. Rinse and repeat. Also, while I do like Skyrim a lot, it was kind of a dick move to put it on a GOTY nominee list this close to its release, when most people are still playing it and getting into it, therefore they have a larger bias towards it than something like Portal 2.

I bet there's an ARG that isn't quite portal styled in the one of the episodes. be funny if it was in HL1.
