I thought the 1, 1, 1 was a reference to his 'try every digit for the password' scene(s). I mean, hell - it COULD be something, but that's grasping at straws. Then again, that is the entire point of this topic by now.
Half Life 1 was released on November 19, 1998 Half Life 2 was released on November 16, 2004 There are 3 days in between the dates so 3 There are 0 months in between the months so 0 and there are 6 years in between the years so 6 Half Life 1 + Half Life 2 = Half Life 3 Half Life 3 will come out 3/06
It came out March of 2006, and nobody told us?! :suicide:
Just wondering, has there ever been a game like Episode 3 that has been thoroughly hyped and dissected to this degree since Diablo 3, and Duke Nukem Forever?
They didn't change anything because of the leak.
Well they didnt use any levels from the beta leak, and the story was kinda changed afterwards.
the last major game was Half-life 2, the last episode was episode 2: 2+2=4, not 3. Since Valve won't skip Half-life 3 or go to 4, the obvious answer is half-life 2, episode 2, part 2, since 2+2+2=6 and 6/2 is 3...
They didn't change anything because of the leak.
http://half-life.wikia.com/wiki/Half-Life_2_original_storyline Might not be because of the leak, but proves they change and rewrite whole parts of games often.
I want to believe
Well they didnt use any levels from the beta leak, and the story was kinda changed afterwards.
Fellow miscreants! We've been had! No. they used tons of shit from the leak, 50% of leak textures are in retail hl2, the leak wasn't a game or a super sekrit early version, it was literally the shit, gum, glue, and overflow of valve's creative soup kitchen.
The time it took from Hl1's release to Hl2's, Valve had made a new engine, remade the story/levels (Because it was leaked), revolutionized the gaming industry, and made a long game. Now, we have seen what they are capable within one year (Left 4 Dead), like being able to create content fast, long, high quality and that their team has expanded alot. We can expect Episode 3 to be very impressive and worth the weight. Gabe celebrates when people expect something from any game convention about EP3.
funny guy delaying it more
So is it confirmed that Alyx and Gordon are still going to the North to look for the Borealis? What if they cancel their trip and stay in the White Forest or something?
So is it confirmed that Alyx and Gordon are still going to the North to look for the Borealis? What if they cancel their trip and stay in the White Forest or something?
i dont think anything is confirmed as of yet
So is it confirmed that Alyx and Gordon are still going to the North to look for the Borealis? I have that goddamn feeling that we ain't getting any hints before Valve end with their 'milking' projects. Which means we'll have plenty of time to make up theories like last 5 pages. This is not leading anywhere anyway, though I'd like to believe it does. Dammit Valve, confirm something for once! :tinfoil:
i hope they don't start another ARG on April fools day
Holy shit 500 new posts what's the news

I really think Valve is going to some extremely big when they are planning to announce Half Life (ep) 3
I really think Valve is going to some extremely big when they are planning to announce Half Life (ep) 3
they should build a citadel on top of valve hq
I really think Valve is going to some extremely big when they are planning to announce Half Life (ep) 3
You'd think so after nearly 5 years of waiting they'll make the announcement the hugest thing ever. I've always had the imagination that at E3, Gabe Newell announces something highly stupid (like ricochet 2, l4d3 etc.) and when they show a fake trailer the combine advisor/gman can be seen flickering until it finally goes to the gman and he says "I wasn't lying when I said unforeseen consequences wasn't I, Alyx?" shows some kick ass footage, then at the ending something spooky from gman (possibly the start of an arg).. Idk why, it seems like valve would always pull a trick like that.
they should build a citadel on top of valve hq
They should invade every single television station in the world and send out a combine broadcast.
Valve would likely make a trailer based on a pre-recorded message left by Eli after he received the message of "prepare for unforeseen consequences".

Trust in Gabe meter: 110% and always will be! I'm waiting on ya. (Over 200 new posts and mostly just about that fucking Spike Transition and Speculations)
While a cool idea, it'd be a kick to the balls for those who would actually love a Ricochet 2 or L4D3.
I used L4D3 and Ricochet 2 because they're the 2 games where nobody is asking for another game, and also it is a kick in the balls to every half life fan when we watch the E3 closely and there is no hint of HL, I think it is safe to say that every valve fan is wanting half life 3. [editline]12th December 2011[/editline]
Valve would likely make a trailer based on a pre-recorded message left by Eli after he received the message of "prepare for unforeseen consequences".
Perhaps at the start of HL3 they comfort her and Dr. Kleiner runs out telling Alyx to come quickly to the control room because their was some footage from Eli and it has his death wish like "If I am not around when I see you and Gordan take off in the chopper, I want you to destroy the Borealis at all cost, that vessel is evil and it cannot be harvested by the combine" To me that sounds something that would most likely happen, and most likely Eli will keep regretting the Black Mesa accident and shit. This seems like a good opening..

Completely different beginning.
http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20111007115631/battlefield/images/a/ac/BF3_Carrier.jpg ep3 must look better than this.
Its not really Valve's style to come with high graphics, i do think Source2 will come but really not like BF3 or Crysis
http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20111007115631/battlefield/images/a/ac/BF3_Carrier.jpg ep3 must look better than this.
Nah, it doesn't have to. For example: Portal 2 doesn't have Crysis graphics and still, it looks very, very good, since the graphics "style" is good and fits to Portal.
remade the story/levels (Because it was leaked)
NO. You can find almost all maps of current Half-Life 2 about 30% done which proves they changed story/levels long before the leak. (Late but let's remember this once and for all)
I checked the half-lives of each lanthanum isotope known, and most of them consisted in just a few minutes or even less, but one of them was 60000 years, so finally we have the release date of HL3, around 62012 AD I believe.
Sounds legit.

Seems kinda reasonable actually.
