Maybe they will just keep releasing episodes forever, and never release half life 3...
I somehow feel that Portal and EP3 are going to weave together in the end.
The Portal Gun will ruin Half-Life's gameplay style...
The Portal Gun will ruin Half-Life's gameplay style...
Big time dude. half life is on a totally different wavelength than portal
Big time dude. half life is on a totally different wavelength than portal
Except it uses almost the EXACT SAME ENGINE TO RUN IT.
Except it uses almost the EXACT SAME ENGINE TO RUN IT.
engine =/= gameplay
Err yeah, source is a engine, and have you seen how many games use that? The engine does not define the gameplay.
They said after HL2:EP3, gordons "saga" was over...
Half Life is series which includes Gordon Freeman's adventures. So EP3 is not end for Freeman.
In Half-life 1 there are 2 chapters named: Surface -Tension- and -Apprehension-. It could be hinting at something about black mesa in ep3. Who knows...?
Valve started to wrote Scenario of Half Life 2 in 2000(Which is about Combine Invasion). So it can't hint EP3.
Half Life is series which includes Gordon Freeman's adventures. So EP3 is not end for Freeman. Half-life 1 and 2 is about Freeman, HL3 is gonna be about someone completely different.
AND not about the combine invasion if i recall because in EP3 [sp]it's known that valve stated the combine will be defeated in EP3[/sp]
I always thought that all the episodes put together were technically "Half-life 3"
I always thought that all the episodes put together were technically "Half-life 3"
Technically speaking yes, but officially, no. The episodes are composed of what was originally supposed to happen in the Half-life 2 story before the re-write.
I would love to see HL2 and the Episodes updated to the same engine, then have them combined into one amazing game.

It allows you to play HL2 and E1 on the E2 engine, and the guy redid just about every texture and the NPC models so it looks really amazing. It gives you something to tie you over until Episode 3.
Are you serious? Downloading right now... 4.6GBs...holy...
It's worth it. I just finished playing through Half-Life 2 again last night and it was awesome. It helps if you torrent it though. It's much easier to download all of it in one torrent as opposed to 5 million RARs.

Does anyone else think that the vortigaunts' display of power and characterization in Episode 2 is there to make you terrified when they turn on you in Episode 3? For all we know, they just want to use you for their own purposes, and their constant praising of you is just a facade. They could be like G-Man, except with different motives. Think about the way they took you from G-Man, and how G-Man sarcastically referred to them as "friends". It's all a struggle for control over you. I certainly hope this isn't the case, but still, it would be an interesting twist.
Damn you, now I am going to end up forever thinking that GMan REALLY IS a Vort in disguise, and that they all have a very well thought-out plan to "get" you.
I think you should be Gordon Freeman like in hl1,hl2,hl2e1... and receive info that you need to find the aperture science boat to get rid of all the combines that are still on earth(and headcrabs)(not vorts)and you so you go...once you find the boat you see that adrian shepard is there and he lost his memory...and then you play as adrian shepard to find out what happened(to his self). would be cool if it where like that
I'm not saying this is true or not, please don't give me a disagree or anything. But, i remember distinctly that my friend mentioned that some hackers stole something from Valve which was important to Ep3, so it is cancelled. Has anyone else heard this rumour? if so please reply and state where you heard it.

I can imagine a begining similar to Half Life 2 a close up of Gman saying "I warrrrned you! Mr.Freeeeeeman!" and then it slowly fading in to Eli's funeral, then something or someone comes and fucks it all up, giving Alyx a reason to fight instead of be emo.
Yeah The Vortigaunts were your biggest enemy in the first one so maybe they will turn on you...
Alyx must tell Gordon that she loves him. Barney MUST DIE. IT'S A FACT. Barney and Gordon must share a beer before said death. Barney must die by a new combine technology. Odessa Cubbage, Alyx's real father, must be re-united and either a helpful companion, or a waste of space, must be killed also. Gordon must have powers bestowed to him by an Elder Vortigaunt or Gman, and he shall use said power against the advisors. Must learn the secret behind Gman. Gman must be either a vortigaunt (thx Mario), killed by a Vort, or is working for a Vort. There's some kind of connection. Gordon must wrestle and kill a Hunter, with his bare hands indeed. Gordon must find an AR3 on the Borealis.
The vortiguants aren't going to turn on Gordon, they love him because he set them free from the nihilanth HL1 I do believe.
