Actually, it would be kinda neat if they sent hints out to a ton of community members, but they all conflicted with each other, so we'd be stuck figuring out which ones are true, but no one would know until it comes out for real.
I'm sure he's just dotting the i's and crossing the t's.

Didn't they claim to be done with the Episodic approach anyways a year or two back, because they felt it had taken so long between Episode Two and Three

gaben himself has said he has always hated the episodic system [sub][citation needed][/sub] so I don't think they'll release the next installment in the series as another episode.

I have reason to believe all that will be confirmed is that the hints people have been finding are indeed real.
Gabe also said that Valve will be shut down after Episode 3 because their work is done
