This, more or less. The episodes were going to end the HL2 arc, HL3 was going to be a whole new idea. That's why I believe that the new Half Life game will still be called ep3 even if they decided against the episodic approach which simply means the delivery method of the games, not how they name them.

I'm okay with them ending the story arc after this next game. I think the story background is good enough that the whole HL universe could create some interesting and refreshing stories, and I think it would be refreshing to the cast and crew over at Valve. It'll be like the Bioshock Universe (I know HL came first, but in regards to playing with the ideas) in where they don't stick with the original characters and just do what comes to mind as being reflective of the overall idea.

So what the hell ever happened to Spitfire? All I've seen is him and the other two that make Steamcast posting Tweets about how nervous they are about their "inside source being right", because Valve will kick their asses if they're wrong.

Oh man I really hope we are waiting so long because they are not only making EP3, but HL3 as well. It just depresses me having to wait like another 5-6 years to get a sequel after EP3 releases
