imo, a lot of people are saying valve wont ever release HL3 because they know theres no way to live up to the hype, or that if it does get released it'll be like duke nukem forever, but I dunno. Half Life 1 changed the game industry, Half Life 2 took a long time to get released, but when it got released once again it changed the game industry. Whats to say Half Life 3 wont do the same, yknow?
