after months long ARG, turning many people mad, HL3 gets suddenly released on 2nd march 2012 it is free and available to anyone through steam it uses the same version of source engine as portal2, which source code is now also publicly published, as valve announces starting to work on a brand new engine which should catch up with all the recent graphical engines and reconcile with mod authors players however starts to complain about the short length of the final campaign after some valve employee mumble something about how studying players lead them to short intense play so that many can finish the game, Gabe finally make an official statement: the game was actually finished in the middle of 2008, valve employees then spent most of their time working on the ARG, ordered to not stop improving it until the fat gabe jokes stops since a bot designed to scan the SPUF showed significant decrease in the jokes, gabe ordered the beginning of the ARG, along with secretly starting a diet, he now shows himself as an healthy good-looking man for a photo shoot to his fans
Call me crazy, but all of these look like distinct but faint shapes of the number '3' and there are more I just didn't circle, perplexing

Also, it's not in the non-Christmas version of the art. It is on the Christmas version on the TF2 site though.
Quit posting things about the website, I posted this in OP, many of you need to read it. Pay attention to the bolded words below.
The Half-Life 3 logo has turned up on a mysterious new website! What could it mean? Point yourself at black-aperture.com and you'll see something mighty interesting: a very professional-looking Half-Life 3 logo, complete with Steam, Valve and Source tags and even all the proper copyright notifications in fine print. Mouse over the logo and you'll notice it links to half-life3.com; click it and you're transported to the Orange Box website. Interesting, and all very legitimate-looking, too. But is it real? The obvious answer is "probably not," but hey, we've got time to kill. A whois of black-aperture.com reveals that the registration is David Hassen, who has no apparently connection to Valve and is thus presumed to be just some guy who doesn't mind spending a few bucks to troll a significant portion of the internet. The logo is also slightly different than the one spotted on a Valve employee's t-shirt in early December, with the lambda and the "3" having swapped spots. At the same time, there seems to be an awful lot of Half-Life 3 "stuff" popping up in recent weeks. There's the t-shirt, and then came reports of the Half-Life 3 clues stashed in Valve's Portal 2 video for the VGAs. Marc Laidlaw insisted there was no "alternate reality game" or anything else untoward going on, but now we have this. Can it all really be a coincidence? Of course it can, and it almost certainly is. Or is it? What's this "Status: Mark 7" business, anyway? And what about "FW26HL3719?" I'm all a-tingle with excitement!
We're like freaking hunters, jumping on every chance to tear anything down to its base components.
The hearts say retard.
I was just kidding. No hard feelings? Also, in the old image there isn't a "3" at the bottom of Medic's coat.
So that's why there's 280+ guests here?
I hate to think what everywhere would be like when EP 3 finally gets announced. The poor Steam servers wouldn't stand a chance :v: In the words of Jaws- "You're gonna need a bigger server!"
this is hilarious.

Theory Time! Theory: HL3 Will be announced through an ARG. Reason: The last one was hugely successful. Theory: CS:GO will have 'clues' for HL3. Reason: Alien Swarm, Portal 2, and DotA 2 had 'clues'. -Alien Swarm had hint-nodes for things with the prefix ep3. -Portal 2 had attack scripts for the adviser. -DotA 2 had something or other about weapons with the prefix of ep3. Theory: Half Life 2: Episode 2 will get an update to announce HL3. Reason: Portal did it. Theory: HL3 will be released in 2013. Reason: Only if it is announced next year, because games rarely come out the same year there announced. Theory: It will be announced over Steam. Reason: Portal 2 was announced this way. If any of these come true, I called it.
If any of these come true, I called it.
Valve will release more games, and one of their future games will probably be either Half Life 3 or Half Life 2: Episode 3 Future games can be bought and downloaded on Steam. If any of these come true, I called it.
