HEY Get back on topic, only warning.
It's nice to see this thread finally slowing down.
This thread will end exactly the same as the wafflebro thread.

"Atramental Plateau" means "Black Mesa"

As far as I am aware, the current Half-Life games have enimies in predetermined positions. For example, the same combine soldier will be in the same spot no matter how many times you play the game. Well, what if they used something like the director from L4D to randomly spawn enemies? Player doing good, spawn a cluster of zombies in the next room. Player doing poorly, only spawn a few antlions over the next hill rather than several. Thoughts?
Wait, that died? Shit, I never knew that. What happened to FOTT?
It became even more shitty which lead to people including me to ask to get it locked. Thanks to Craptastic.

I honestly expect ep3 to be everything valve was experimenting with, maybe they might even perfect File streaming ( http://half-life.wikia.com/wiki/Source#File_streaming Something I can honestly say works as I have the xbox version of Half-Life 2. Imaged based rendering might work wonders for some parts, though I cant say me not being totally familiar with the technology.).
Eh. They're gonna surprise us. And when they do announce it, the internet will go down.

It would be pretty neat to see how they could fit in all the neat additions they've added to the Source engine in the past five years into one game. L4D's AI Director, the global lighting and cloth physics from Dota2, maybe some sort of use for the worldportals from Portal 2, along with some brand new stuff as well.
Half Life 1 took place in Black Mesa, Half Life 2 Took Place In City 17, White Forest, and the outskirts of White Forest. Half Life 2 Episode 3 (Half Life 3) will take some some place far away from City 17, White Forest, and the outskirts of White Forest. (Yes i did copy and paste that :v: ) Anyway, it will be a new enviroment and it will be WORTH THE WEIGHT.

Everyone would be playing through a very slightly different story, I don't think it would work too well. IMO in the world of linear shooters that Valve makes it would be better just to place all the NPCs as they've done in the past.

Some soldiers being scripted to always spawn around the same corner, but if it were just a generic situation like running across a battlefield to get to some other objective then consistency wouldn't matter much.
