i think the reason why you have to destroy the borealis instead of saving is that...
theres a portal gun or technoligy that the combine can use to reopen the portal to there homeworld so they can take back the world and since the humans cant be controlled the combine will just kill all of them..
think of it the combine are screwed and they are running out of troops and if they get reinforcements it will be like eli said "it will be the seven hour war all over again....except we wont last seven minutes"

What I am afraid of that the Valve will rush down the development and the game will be bullshit. Today every company is doing that so no surprise at all.

Besides the fact that most people tend to be impatient on things, I do believe it's the fact that Valve has yet to release any info on the game. I think the lack of an update is making people believe it's further along than it is/should be out by now.
Valve is in no rush to please anyone, they take their time on their products and because of that valve is a successful company

I also just came up with a crazy theory: Maybe the reason barney wasn't in episode 2 is because The GMAN hired him! He thought that his work in City 17 made him worthy of hiring. It would explain the sudden dissapearance and why nobody is talking about him!
