Unless Valve suddenly start on a new IP, which is unlikely as they have sort of done that with DotA, they have to do HL2:EP3, right?

Even more reason for them to make a media release then as they should be far along in the production schedule.
You know, I think this game may be safely called Half-Life 3 at this point.

Exactly I cannot comprehend why Valve are keeping us in the dark i know they have no obligation to show us be patient etc yada yada yada BUT its been way too fucking long IMO and I'm so frustrated that they havent even released any proper media or a statement as to why they clearly aren't following the traditional episodic format anymore. I love Valve so I'm not hatin' on them but eughhh even as a loyal fan I'm starting to feel forgotton about.

They're keeping it secret. You're just saying they should release info because you're impatient.

I think that every one has a good reason to be impatient after all this time with out any hints to Ep 3

Its been over 3 years. We havent been shown anything whatsoever, Valve have mentioned nothing of episode 3 is what s7uff means by a 'hint'. Keeping a highly anticipated video game a secret for a couple years is fine i understand that if it was Half-Life 3 but for an "episodic release" its just not right to keep us waiting and not saying anything as to whether they've (clearly) scrapped the episodic model and are working on something much larger etc.

I am too tired to search, but I am 100% sure gabe said "of course we're doing episode three, but there's nothing to say about it yet" in 2008 (some gt tv interview)
The point isn't whether they have said they are working on Episode 3 or not, the point is "Just one screenshot would suffice, to keep the devotees believing.".
I don't care what kind of media they release. Just a hammer screenshot with "ep3_borealis" in the caption bar and empty viewports would be enough to satisfy me (and probably hundreds of other fans) and prove to me that this isn't vaporware.
