Okay, i snip'ed it.
I can only wonder what kinda game the Half-life 3 is gonna be?
Episode 3, I don't really care about it anymore, it'll turn out, we'll buy it, Half-life 2 complete.
But with the continuation of Half-life series, I don't think they'll be able to get all this with a new, better pipe runner, like HL1 and HL2 were.
But I don't know.. Basically all the CoD games (Singleplayer) for example, is much like the Half-life, neither are freeroam, no turning back really, except for the fact that there aren't flashbacks or cutscenes in Half-life's gameplay, which is good. Plus the side products like TF, L4D, Portal, etc

Reading this confuses me
Reading this confuses me
what you mean?
i was wondering how big of a leap will the Half-life 3 be, if you compare the leap between half-life 1 and 2, which was pretty massive. so hl2 -> hl3 ?
will the gameplay change, so that it's not a "pipe runner" any more? etc.
:v:

Multiple Pipe Runner!
You can take several different paths that have equally difficult tasks, but they're each different, although you end up in the same locations.
Anyone think that Valve probably would have implemented AI Director for EP3/HL3? (They did talk about using AI Director for future games at one point I believe.)
they didnt put it in portal 2, which would have made randomized testchamber musics, or randomized walls, etc
so i very much doubt valve will ever put ai director to good use other than "no more repetitive enemy spawns"
Portal 2 doesn't need it though. It's a test chamber, so it would be the same each time. And for the music, Maybe they could have, but it wouldn't have been important.
I could definitely see the uses in Ep3.

Music Director/Ai Director are different things anyway, they might still use it.
The Director could be used to determine what kind of health/ammo the player most needs.
What I'm hoping for to see in EP3 is some variety in citizens. Valve already addressed they know it's weird and unrealistic that everyone is of the same height - no words on changing that in the future though. Also clothes. God damn I want more clothes. Valve also said something on this topic - I remember reading somewhere that since everyone is given only the uniform - if you'd happen to find some other clothes you'd hold on to them. Why didn't they do it that way? And the face generator from BMS would be lovely.

But... But we know those faces so well.

Exactly. if tyhey used a face generator, I'd never know who's important and who to not give a fuck about!

Good Points.

That's why you use special faces or models for certain characters that are important or have a special role (like Barney or Alyx), and a face generator for just generic rebels nobody cares about.

I care about them. I am sad when they die :saddowns:
Would be cool to see randomized enemy spawns with the director as well... yeah pretty goddamn obvious but whatever.
Something else which would be pretty cool I reckon is the idea of mutations... E.g. beat the game once and go through the campaign differently (like how you can with the developer commentary). CoD4 also had this (no I'm not a CoD fanboi), where you could play through the game again in super contrast or slow mo. Kinda sounds cheesy... but hey, it adds to replayability (especially if EP3's going to be SP-only).

They don't need gimmicks like that because they put so much shit in their games people find stuff new about them 5 years after they're released
the heli will crash from technicle difficulties coz ALYX fixed and girls cant fix helicopters especilly if the like a teenager without and education coz of combine
maby no education i dunno

getting shot down would work better. Then you could crash into either Weather control, or Air Exchange. (who say's that they won't use either of these cut chapters?)

Probably not Air Exchange. When that got cut, the whole "people have to wear gas masks" idea had to go as well. Weather Control might not be too far off, though.
I'd like to see a part of the game which splits the storyline in two and you have to choose Wether to use the Borealis, or Destroy it. and the rest of the game is entirely different Depending on what you choose.
Also in the Portal 2 Megathread I got this Idea of fighting a bunch of Cloaking Ninja P-bodies in the Borealis (Becasue time-traveling ship)

Cloaking Ninja P-bodies sounds too cheesy to be honest. Those robots weren't constructed for combat either way (I'm assuming), just testing.
But I'd still love to see the Aperture Science sentry turrets in there however.
But the alternate endings part is something I really want to see. Destroy Borealis or use Borealis
If there ever is a choice I guess it will be like the one you had in HL1; you get to choose at the end of the game and only one ending is canon.
But if it's not the case, this could be one of the reason they are spending so much time making it.
I hope they are going to make bigger puzzles like in hl1.

It would be awesome to see an army of androids/P-body type robots and Aperture gunships or something attacking the combine, like that scene from Terminator.
Houndeyes, Bullsquids, and working Ichthyosaurs.
I want to see CrabSynths, MortarSynths, Combine Assassin and the Combine Guard.
I Want to see in Episode Three Portal Gun And Zombie Pigeons
