Gabe Newell and JJ Abrams are friends, so they like to throw easter eggs into their work. Like those terrorists playing HL in one of the Lost episodes, and Super 8 in Portal 2. Doubt they're going to make a game out of it.
Source on this?
Source on this?
Search around and you'll find it. I can't remember the exact source, but these two guys have put so many references here and there.

It's lookin really good for Episode 3 as being the next Valve release [sp]since Portal 2 has been wrapped up nicely.[/sp]
It's lookin really good for Episode 3 as being the next Valve release [sp]since Portal 2 has been wrapped up nicely.[/sp]
DOTA2. Though I still hope you are right.
Yeah, I'm thinking more along the lines of DOTA 2 myself. Don't get me wrong, I want Episode 3 as badly as the next HL fanboy, but I've learned to not get hyped up about this sort of thing, because that just allows more room for me to get let down when it turns out to not be Episode 3. It'll be done when it's done. Besides, if they are going to reveal Episode 3 this year, it will probably be at E3.
DOTA sucks.
DOTA sucks.
which implies that dota 2 will suck right? go away
I doubt EP3 will be shown off at E3. We always speculate this every year. I'm pretty sure this dates back to the Orange Box release in 2008? I'm excited as can be to play it when it comes out but I've stopped holding my breath. A lot of great titles are coming out this year and they're higher on my list then EP3. Valve brought my interest back with Portal 2 but it's not going to stay alive for long. We'll see DOTA and then EP3 if we're lucky, if not, a new IP.
DOTA sucks.
Yeah but valve could make looking at shit fun and amazing.
You know what would be amazing? If you get the Borealis working again in ep3 an the rebels load it up with men and weapons and use it to teleport to the combine overworld for a confrontation. Like a warp drive but on a boat
That'd be awfully embarrassing if the combine overworld didn't have any water. And ya know, when they get raped by the combine.

I just meant that if they are going to reveal it this year, it will be at E3 or at least some widely known convention of the sort, not just out of the blue.

Like a warp drive but on a boat
So the forces that have been barely able to rid a small section of the planet of the Combine, try to take on their homeworld? If anything the Borealis has the ability to stop the portals from the Combine world to Earth from forming. The rebels will most likely never engage in a full-on offense on the Combine.

ALso, doesn't Portal 2's ending pretty much confirm that mankind, one way or other, won and restored Earth to what it used to be before HL2?

It seems that if nobody could find a shed with an industrial shipping door in the middle of a wheat pasture, then there might not be a technological society.

So Instead of 9999 years, it's more like a couple hundred at most. And if the Combine succeeded, Earth would be kind of an unliveable dry rock with no atmosphere, instead of all lush and green.

episode 3 will come with a store that you can use to customise your gordan freeman
Am I the only one worried that Valve will mess up Episode 3? Valve's recent games have to much microtransaction stores and silly humor for my taste. I just hope Episode 3 is a classic, dark, and subtle old-fashioned Valve game.
Episode 3 is singleplayer, it'd have no need for Microtransations.
Who knows, might come with a co-op mode for alyx and freeman
Episode 3 is singleplayer, it'd have no need for Microtransations.
But then again, Portal 2 is hardly a "multiplayer game". It has a co-op campaign.
But then again, Portal 2 is hardly a "multiplayer game". It has a co-op campaign.
There will be more Coop activities added.
I'm starting to get a bit of a sickish feeling that they might just go straight to Half Life 3.
Who knows, might come with a co-op mode for alyx and freeman
That would go against the principles of Half Life. Everything has to be told from the players POV. [editline]21st April 2011[/editline]
I'm starting to get a bit of a sickish feeling that they might just go straight to Half Life 3.
Half Life 3 would be a different story arc, they have to finish off the current one first with Episode 3.
