personally I'd rather have HL3 than Episode 3, valve never understood the point of 'episodic development' since it took them so long to release the damn things as long as HL3 doesn't have hats I like this decision
Yeah, I think even they knew they were kind of missing the point of episodic games, and that is the ability to release games more frequently at a lower price while still maintaining good quality gameplay and story so that fans don't complain about the infrequency of releases. Well, fans are still complaining, and Episode 3 has maybe 2 pieces of concept art available to the general public and no actual news on anything concerning the gameplay or engine updates. So yeah, even though they've said in the past that they want to wrap up this story arc before moving on to an actual sequel, I still think there's a chance they will just make a full-fledged sequel at this point. Still, Gabe could have just been talking about the other game series' that Valve owns and they may still make Episode 3. Who knows.
The borealis is probably a ship that can go anywhere: through space, through time, or through the parallel dimension. Knowing Cave Johnson, the boat probably doesn't have a normal engine or rudder, because naval equipment of that caliber is expensive, folks! Gotta balance the budget after the shortfall caused by the moonrocks.
Well, its drydock in Portal 2 was several kilometers below ground level.

So there's hope they're still working on it, but future games won't have such. You have to remember that Half-Life is a very guarded secret of Valve's. Just look back at HL1 and 2, both somehow got leaked and pushed development back by some time. Of course, riding the optimism rainbow here. Choo choo! :buddy:
THAT WASN'T THE FUCKING DRY DOCK.
What was it, then?
personally I'd rather have HL3 than Episode 3, valve never understood the point of 'episodic development' since it took them so long to release the damn things as long as HL3 doesn't have hats I like this decision
At this point if they actually did release Episode 3 as a 3-5 hour episode then it would be pretty embarassing for them. Any new Half Life game pretty much has to be HL3 now. I'm still interested as to why they never did release it when they should have. It's not like Valve didn't have the resources to just poop out another few hours worth of HL2 maps and call it an episode.
What was it, then?
Easter egg

I'm betting they're going to finish up episode 3 but it'll have some sort of multiplayer, like a much more expansive half-life 2 deathmatch, then they'll get started working on source 2.0 for Half Life 3. edit Half life 3 co-op One person plays as gordon freeman and one plays as chell
Fixed.
I'd rather have two rebels on a different storyline.
Tell that to Adrian Shepard or Barney.
you can catch glimpses of Gordon in both expansions
I wish I knew what was going on in that fat mans head. Tell me your secrets gabe!
I think that HL2 EP3 will actually be more like what Valve was first trying to get HL2 to be like. AKA, HL2 Beta.
I hope it gets leaked
I hope it gets leaked
So Valve can start from scratch like with the HL2 leak?
dont know how late i am but i saw this: http://borealis.tk/ pretty sure its fake and dosnt E3 start in 37 days?
http://borealis.tk/images/pawnch.gif :v:
If Half Life were to become a movie, don't you think Christopher Walken would make a great G-man?

And I think the game will take place in a very different setting.
