i wonder if episode 3 is going to include personality cores. i wouldn't be surprised if they did the same thing as the original portal 2 storyline and there's just a bunch of cores running around the borealis and messing things up for the combine.
Aperture Science = USA
Ep 3 = Arctic, Europe.
Portal =/= Half life
When did he ever bring up anything Portal related in that post?
Portal =/= Half life
The events of Portal take place IN the Half life universe.
May be two different games but still in the same series.
Also he said nothing about portal in that post.

pretty sure he just quoted the wrong post
Portal is gonna collide with half life,in episode 3,where you destroy Aperture Science.
I wonder if Episode 3 is actually going to come out.
It's all a lie. like the cake.
I'd love see a glados reference in EP3, actually seeing her would be a bit of a cliché..
[editline]26th May 2011[/editline]
Something subtle, like the way rattman mentions her in paintings
Portal is gonna collide with half life,in episode 3,where you destroy Aperture Science.
That'll happen, especially when the entire facility is still pretty much in one piece (relatively) in Portal 2, 200+ years after HL2.
It would be cool to travel through Aperture's underground in Episode 3. You'd get there after pretty much having a reversal of the accident with the Borealis while you were on it. Instead of really being a killing spree on headcrabs or something, it would really become a "Pick up X object and bring it back to Y without falling to your death"
I could've sworn Valve announced they were cancelling episodic games.
I could've sworn Valve announced they were cancelling episodic games.
That doesn't mean they have canceled episode three, it just means that they won't use the episodic format in the future seeing as they failed hard with it.

it worked the first two times then all of a sudden BOOM four years
Aperture Science = USA

i don't see your point
first of all episode 3 takes place in the borealis (which is aperture property and will at least have to do with the current aperture as it was seen with the modern logo) and second the arctic isn't in europe

I meant that we will probably be in both Europe and the Arctic.
And that ep will probably not involve freeman going inside Aperture Science laboratories. The only connection between portal and ep3 will probably be the borealis.

Hah, I can imagine if Episode 3 was internally called "The cake" and they came up with it being a lie.
Of course for this to work, I'm sure they had planned to never actually bother making the game and just see how long people care.
Sly bastards...
first of all episode 3 takes place in the borealis and second the arctic isn't in europe
I don't get that comment on about the game only taking place on the Borealis, considering they did not even board the copter at the end of Episode Two, I would have to guess there were more Combine around then those two Advisers that you have no choice but to resume whatever you need to resume in White Forest first, before leaving to the Arctic, why would Episode Three only take place in one area? You got White Forest, Arctic, Krakken Base, then Borealis. Why assume this order, I would assume Borealis would be the grand finale.

The Borealis can't be though, because that's where they're headed at the end of Episode 2.
Chell gets captured shortly after leaving aperture, and is sent to an arctic prison. she meets up with Gordon and Alyx, then Wheatly attaches himself to a laser defense satellite and blows the prison up after they escape, he then helps them through the rest of the game.
judging from the sheer size and importance of it i'm willing to believe at least one half of the game will be about entering and then exploring the borealis. also chell will NOT meet up with gordon and alyx; portal 2 takes place, according to the final hours, 50 000 years after the original portal, although it's more like 300.
Do you play as Gordon, or Chell?
In EP3, you play as Gordon and in Portal 3, you play as Chell :v:
I think that Episode 3 isn't happening. It's Half-Life 3 now.
I think that Episode 3 isn't happening. It's Half-Life 3 now.
Whatever, I want another half-life game and I don't care what it's called.
I think that Episode 3 isn't happening. It's Half-Life 3 now.
Same game, different name.
I think that Gordon and Alyx will have to board the helicopter quickly to run away and there will be tears, and it will be the most emotional scene in video game history. Then the helicopter will crash, and they'll have to be in the arctic. And it will be awesome.
I just realized that this thread is going to be 2 years old in about 12 days.
Depressing. All we've heard since then is that they decided that episodic won't work out.
wasn't valve on the list for E3 2010 with episode 3?
ignore the red circle i was looking for any info on a new gta game, but under valve it says Half Life 2 episode 3

If that's real I'm thinking that they decided that the content that they had to present didn't accurately represent what they wanted the final product to be, so they nixed it.
