I Think I give up on waiting for this.
Until I hear some solid evidence of it existing I am going to act like the game is never coming and that hl2ep2 was the end.
Except, the "missing experiment" still existed in Portal 2. I know people would have gone insane if there was no mention of Aperature Labs owning that ship instead. Wouldn't it be ironic if in Episode Three, that survivors that ask Gordon what happened to Chell or Aperature, but since Gordon can't say anything anyway.
Even though part of me knows this may not be the story, I think it would of been interesting if all of Aperature's staff, including Cave had a party on the Borealis, and after too much whine, that was the reason they all accidentally got teleported.
Realistically however, I feel there just has to be an explanation in-game regarding the rivalry. I am talking about the not so action packed part of the story where BM and Aperature had to compete for funding. Compared to how you hear Cave get angry about BM; rather then use choice words in Episode Two, Kleiner was rather calm and mentioned "peers" at Aperature Science, versus Cave would of burned Lamaar on Kleiner.
If HL Ep3/3 comes out and has the same old boring weapons and blocky .bsp levels Valve can go screw themselves.
At this point I want a proper make-over. How ridiculous would it be if they'd still be re-using models and textures.

last year everyone was like "it would be ridiculous if we still didn't see anything half life related at the next e3"
and this year we'll ACTUALLY see nothing half life related again!

When I read that part, first thing came to mind:

this thread is making me sad :saddowns:
I think they're just waiting for inspiration or something. I doubt that after so long it's about technical difficulties anymore, it's likely about wanting to do other franchises than just Half-Life. You know how you're told to write a story but nothing comes up? Week later you get a massive inspiration and write three pages in 15 minutes. Probably the same thing, they're waiting until they feel like actually making it good. Forcing games out isn't a good idea, CoD displays the consequences too well.
I get the feeling that at some point during development they realised that they didn't like the direction it was heading and decided to re-think it.
Maybe they didn't like what they had started so they restarted making the game from scratch

I'm sure they're going to do a makeover for the materials, seeing how its a new type of VTF they're using now.

I always think they're still trying to figure out out a bunch of story related and gameplay techniques, for example: we'll probably get to fight (an) Advisor(s) at some point, how can it be fun, and not look like an old school boss fight where you have to find its weakness while constantly being hit and then repeat for like three times.
I'm hoping that we'll learn more about Gman, he's so fucking mysterious.
My theory...
Gordon Freeman.
Gman.
G = Gordon
Man = Freeman
Now I got a brain explosion

Valve may have hinted at it in one of their email responses...
After all the hype, anything less than perfect is going to be a disappointment.
I managed to come up with a nice intro,
Alyx, Gordon and D0G are on board their helicopter, where they must [sp]Find Mossman and Find The Borealis[/sp], Alyx, who is[sp]still upset about Eli's Death[/sp], tells Gordon to stay on watch for any Combine Forces. During the journey, Alyx is spotted by an Advisor, who calls its friends, Gordon immediatly aims his SMG out the window and gets ready to attack. The combine forces fire their AR2's but Gordon fired back, taking them down. Suddenly, A hunter shoots its Flechette's at the chopper and it is downed. Gordon and Alyx both survived, but D0G is missing. Before they find Mossman and the Borealis, they have a friend who is downed and might need help!

Lets just say Gordon tied it to himself, if that's not enough, they probably told D0G to hold onto it, probably still has it when they find him.

Or as a twist we could get both the crowbar and the gravgun at the same time.
I don't think VALVe can afford Gordon losing another crowbar.
If you consider how we got a really short one-portal startup in portal 2, maybe they will be a bit faster to give us weapons in the next installment.
I want more Overwatch. They are IMO the most fun enemies to fight. Especially in EP2, they were brilliant tacticians (with horrible aim) and they'd do awesome shit like signal a move up while others laid down cover fire.
What would be awesome is:
You're in the chopper. Flyin'. But for some reason I can't explain, you have to fly over City 17. Well from Episode One when you first see the Borealis video with Mossman in it, the Combine are there, so the Combine already found the Borealis. So as you fly over City 17, the Borealis flies out of a giant fucking portal and smashes into what's left of the city. The helicopter is hit by a flying barrel or something and crashes in City 17.
So the Borealis is half in City 17 and half in the arctic or whatever. So you grab your shit and kill some Combine and find out what the big deal is with the stupid boat. Oh anf snow is going into C17 through the Portal so it's all white and shit.

Her finding the borealis doesn't mean that the base was right next to it, also if there position being compromised was going to give away the Borealis's location I doubt Mossman would go through the effort of encrypting the data.
Just found something funny, no idea where it came from. Found it via facebook:

So guys, E3 announcement, Y/N?
I'm hoping for a Y. :smith:
Valve HAS to be at least working on it, its been 4 fucking years, I'm sure they didn't devote their ENTIRE staff to L4D, Portal 2, and TF2
I...I'm gonna put my dosh on next year :(
It'll be a launch game on the Nintendo
It'll be a launch game on the Nintendo
On their new console system they're launching?
The one that's supposed to be better than everyone's console just because they're Nintendo? :V
I'd like them to find out that the borealis sunk in the end...
