Actually, someone said, in valve, that they want to use adrian.
Opposing Force is canon. Race X is not.
As in Adrian Shepard exists, and was in Black Mesa and is now in stasis/unknown. But Valve have not confirmed the existance of Race X past or present or future.
They have stated that we will see Adrian again "one day".

I've been wondering. What would happen if valve tomorrow made an announcement something like "Half Life 2: Episode Three out 6/20/11!" how do you think the gaming community would react to a game that we have been waiting for for a while now being released in six days? A game with no gameplay videos, no screen shots, no information leaked about it what-so-ever to be released in just six days.

We already knew Vorts know about him too. I wonder why the Vorts know but did not talk to Gordon about Gman between some point in Episode One. They only seem to mention Gman to Gordon as "something secret steers us both." When Gman says "we'll see about that" at the beginning of Episode One", I have to wonder what they were talking about, and if that got Gman pissed off at them and Eli, because I bet Gman wanted to take Gordon directly into HL3 right there. If the vorts did not show up after the citadel blast, something tells me Gman would of just let Alyx fall to the ground instead.
The vorts probably know how strong he is.
I wonder if they are gonna add any new characters?
