I hope the HECU make a comeback.
they're all dead
I figured some of you guys might like this relic: http://www.merledandridge.com/HLmain.html A little Half-Life related thing on Merle Dandridge's (Alyx's Voice actor) website. It's pretty cool, I quite like the design. :v: Check out the "Voice Talent Demo" movie under the second section. Looks like Source might have always had some nice visual features.
they're all dead
Adrian isn't dead.

what
I've had this idea for the start of 3(ep3 or Hl3, your choice.) After Eli has some kind of quickie funeral, Alyx gets emotionally pissed at the advisors and wants to see those maggots burn. So Gordon, Alyx and two rebels get in the chopper, headed toward the Borealis. The Rebels pilot the chopper because they both had experience in the past or something like that. After a lecture by Alyx and what they'll supposedly do at the Borealis (This is before they know of the Combine's base-boat-thing), the pilots inform them something is wrong with the chopper, probably an engine freezing up. The chopper crashes near that one base in demo_artic.vmf. Gordon, Alyx and a Pilot survive and they find the Borealis nearby and so on. I think of it as a callback to the scrapped Vertigo chapter.
I hope they use Adrian Shephard, he is one of the most interesting characters and had to put up with more crap than Gordon and Barney while escaping Black Mesa and what did he get? Put in stasis.
I formulated my best guesses a wile ago, with what I have seen in the previous games. And I don't bellieve that I am that far off. Let me share it with you guys. Mossman's rebel base was probably destroyed, and Mossman herself was captured. Since Alyx, Gordon and Dog will be there alone, (Only one helicopter, can't take and entire army), Ep3 will be a game with a lot more stealh than in previous Half-Life games, (a new weapon will probably be implemented to fit this game play, like a pistol with a supressor or something.). Probably the first thing you will have to do, is to save Mossman from the combine (a call back into Half Life 2 where they did the same in nova prospekt), and finally ask her what the hell is going on in Borealis. And of course, Alyx will be informing Mossman that Eli is dead, and we all have a sad moment in the game (Valve wouldn't lose this oportunity for drama like this), then move on to the next objective... Probably something not that indirectly unrelated to Borealis, like geting a bomb or something in order to destroy it. My last guess is that judging from the leaked artwork above. The darker tone and scale of Gordon in the actual picture, (tiny against a big foe) may hint the intention of the producers in that level. Gordon Freeman may be alone on the borealis, something may hapen to Alyx (the character with the deepest connection to gordon), that will motivate the game into a darker tone, or, the player into a revenge. The ending won't be a happy one. Valve never did one, and it wont start now. Gordon may go into the Borealis on a suicidal mission, the ultimate hero sacrifice. About Gman... I can't make any guess. Only Valve know what he will be doing. Anyways, It's all guesses. But I'm starting to get a bad pain from Half Life deprivation. Last time I had this pain, was wile wating for Half Life 2 to come out...
I hope E3 has some sort of huge plot twist on the Borealis, like Cave johnson is actually alive using some sort of machine like the Life Extended from TF2.
i'd shit my pants.
what? that's a clip from half-life 2
I know that, but the DOF is really nice and it appears to be using higher res textures.
The ending won't be a happy one. Valve never did one, and it wont start now.
[sp]I dunno, I'm sure Portal 2's ending could count as a happy one, considering Chell was finally allowed to leave the facility (With the old Companion Cube), and the field at the end seems to suggests that the resistance defeated the Combine, allowing them to slowly restore dominance on Earth over the several years between whenever they defeated the Combine and the events of Portal 2.[/sp]
If the vorts did not show up after the citadel blast, something tells me Gman would of just let Alyx fall to the ground instead.
Think of it like this; The GMan can influence people, but only indirectly, in this case it's mainly Gordon. For example he can be seen talking to Odessa just before NLO. Odessa in turn gives Gordon the RPG. Now think of it like this; Gordon has destroyed the Citadel with Alyx's help, he had rescued Alyx previously, having forseen her use in the future to acheive his goal(s). Her purpose was now complete, the vortigaunts intervene and rescue her, GMan attempts to place Gordon in stasis but is prevented. Now in Episode 2, the GMan's plans have been foiled in some way, he now has to alter forthcoming events to suit his goal(s), in this case, it's binding the "lifeforce" of Gordon and Alyx to ensure Alyx is alive to either complete or help Gordon complete and unknown (to the player) task. Eli's death may or may not have been a direct result of the GMan's actions, but I expect GMan likely wanted a superportal between Earth and the Combine Overworld to have been opened- and remain open. "Prepare for unforeseen consequences"

[sp]Portal 2's ending is the exception to the rule... but I was talking more about the half-life series when I said that.[/sp] Who knows, with the ending in EP 2 being such depressing ending, Ep 3 ending may be even worse...
years ago they confirmed ep3 would have been gordon's last story arc, and the combine's as well happy endings just arent a thing for the half-life series [editline]19th June 2011[/editline] i find it funny that merle dandridge updates all the old footage of hl2 on her site with the ob engine version yet valve still cant replace the tf2 beta screenshots on the steam store page or the beta hud class icons in tf2
A neutral ending would be nice. Combine was defeated but with a great loss.
Didn't Gabe say something like two years ago about how he wanted Ep3 (or whatever the hell is it now) to be the scariest thing that Valve has ever developed? I mean seeing the games they've come out with so far that wouldn't be too hard..
years ago they confirmed ep3 would have been gordon's last story arc, and the combine's as well
No they didn't. Stop pulling this out of your ass. Episode 3 will be the the last episode of the C17 arc. Half Life 1-Black Mesa Arc HL2 and Episodes-C17 (and white forest/arctic) Arc HL3-A new place, new enemies, some recurring characters

She also was exposed to Neurotoxin, Bombs, A lively element that doesn't like the human skeleton, Asbestos,[sp]SPACE[/sp] and Ground up Moonrocks. I'd say she has about a couple more months to live if a truck doesn't hit her on the way home.
That was put there by Aperture, not the resistance/humans.
Where does it say Aperture placed it there? Besides, you'd kind of think by the time Chell woke up [sp]the field would've withered away by then.[/sp]

half life 3 will be civil wars between the rebels
You forgot that she was also exposed to [sp]SPACE![/sp]
fine I edited it in.
years ago they confirmed ep3 would have been gordon's last story arc, and the combine's as well happy endings just arent a thing for the half-life series [editline]19th June 2011[/editline] i find it funny that merle dandridge updates all the old footage of hl2 on her site with the ob engine version yet valve still cant replace the tf2 beta screenshots on the steam store page or the beta hud class icons in tf2
They said it was not the end of the adventures of Gordon Freeman, but the end of the Half-Life 2 story arc.
I bet end of EP3/HL3 (w/e the next one is) will either end in Gordons death (like what someone else said, suicide mission), or, more likely, Gordon will win, combine defeated, everyones happy, and just as everyone gets together to give their thanks to Gordon and celebrate, bang, time stops. "Is it really that...time again?" Honestly there's no way G-Man will just give up Gordon, he's far too useful. And I believe the most canonical ending possible would be one where Gordon is torn from this time and brought back to stasis, just like HL1 and HL2. Now as for G-Man, as I said before I bet he's in control of everything. By this I mean randomness, entropy, that sort of shit. Like he can make stuff happen without having to actually intervene. (IE send Advisors after Eli, but have DOG save Alyx and Gordon from those same Advisors) That's why Gordon is so useful, he's a capable man that he can pluck in and out of various times and have him be the variable, the "arm" so to speak, that can ensure more complicated things happen (Fall of the combine/whatever G-Man wants). The right man in the wrong place.
All this speculations of Gordon's death made me imagine the Borealis falling into a canyon of ice after having gotten bombed out of the ice wall it was embedded into, and Gordon battling an Advisor in freefall
